How much traffic is MGOBLOG getting this year?

Submitted by SanDiegoWolverine on

I use to really enjoy clicking on that link at the bottom of the page to see what the site's traffic looked like and during which events or days it spiked.  I remember the Jihad was a particularly busy time around here.

I can't find that link anymore. Was it removed, moved, or can I just not find it?  Is there another reliable website to look at website traffic trends and what not?  It would be great to see how popular this site is with all the early season success so far.

1.  USC

2.  Michigan Football

3.  Denise Taco Bell

It's nice to see a spike from search engines, which means more traffic, and more money for Brian.

Mgoblog.com's three-month global Alexa traffic rank is 49,279. Roughly 7% of visits to the site are referred by search engines, and it has a bounce rate of roughly 55% (i.e., 55% of visits consist of only one pageview). Relative to the overall population of internet users, the site's users tend to be under the age of 35, and they tend to be childless, higher-income college graduates and men browsing from school and work. Mgoblog.com has attained a traffic rank of 6,919 among users in the US, where we estimate that 91% of its audience is located.

No shit.

Our site's traffic decribed as... "higher-income college graduates and men browsing from school and work".

MSU traffic described as "likely sitting on a couch (which will likely be burnt after the next loss by one of the school's athletic programs) discussing the greatest moment in Spartan sports, the App St win over Michigan".

Who are the 55% of people that don't open up anything but the first page they see? The fewest times I open threads or diaries is five times, and I visit this site every hour or two.

That "Harrison Ford imdb" is down 0.13 % for this last month.  Come on people, it's time to step your game up.  Enough searching purely Michigan stuff and Denise Taco Bell.  I mean, how can you not search this more often...

I am limited poster. Read a lot more than I post. I have to say the increase in activity sometimes comes at the cost of quality content. Like this post I just wrote. Whoops.

Some quick math:

My own blog gets about 1.4 pageviews per visit, but I lack a message board, so, very conservatively let's double that and say MGoBlog gets 2.8 per visit.  1.07 million times 2.8 is almost exactly 3 million.  3 million pageviews in the month of August.

Brian once posted in a meta-style post what ad rates look like - let's say it ends up being about $2.50 per 1,000 pageviews, which was about midrange.  Advertising revenue: about $7500 a month.  Very rough figure.  It's no wonder MGoBlog can afford a guy like TVH and swallowed up Varsity Blue as well.

dolla dolla bill y'all indeed.

Well, fcuk, I'm now over 35, I got kids, I did graduate and have an income, I browse at home and am located in Canada.

What I want to know, is outside of me and BlueSeoul who else is outside the lower 48.
