How much do you really hate ohio?

Submitted by UMxWolverines on

Some people say the Michigan-ohio rivalry is only one sport, but it definitely isn't to me. I hope those shitheads lose in every single game they play in every sport (unless it somehow helps Michigan). I've even seen people on here say they'd root for ohio over Sparty in basketball. Are you kidding me? Ohio is the enemy always.

I only "hate" Ohio in a kayfabe kind of sense.  Comparing the rivalry to the one with Sparty, while I "hate" both, I respect Ohio.  I have absolutely no respect for Sparty.  I don't decide who to cheer for, but I just let it happen in the moment; I cheered for Ohio in the NCAA Tournament this season, but always cheered against Sparty.

To me, the difference is easy to determine.  Ohio is a rival; Sparty is a remora.

I have to +1 you for enhancing my vocabulary.  I had literally never heard of the term "kayfabe" until your post.  But I looked it up, and it makes perfect sense.

In '81. Riverside Hospital. Lived in Upper Arlington until I was 12. Home of The Bear. My entire family outside Mum and Dad were then, and are still now working at U of M. So at school, when they would do the Pledge, what would follow everyday, on que, was the suckeye bight song. For real. I would stand with posture during the Pledge. I would protest and sit my little ass down during the nest collection of duh-duh-duh, duhduhduhduhs. Times were great then! Cooper era. In the thick of it. Cherish those days. I just recently got the hotdog water smell off of me for having lived there for over a decade so things are looking up! North. GO BLUE!!!

I'll vote "no" to that motion.  I want Ohio sports to do well right up until we punch them out.  Much more satisfactory.

Ohio fans on the board provide amusement at the least, and insight at the best.  I respect there gall to be here, and want them to be right up until game time, and then want them to be so wrong.

MSu fans I don't care about.  I don't respect the school enough to respect its fans, even the ones I like without respecting them.

Let me put it this way, if the university of douche suddenly joined the big ten and Satan was the A.D., Saddam Hussein was the HC, and Osama Bin Laden was the OC. I would root for them over ohio.

I dislike Ohio the school plenty.  I don't understand all the hate for the actual state and everything associated with it, though, as many people near and dear to all of our hearts came from Ohio.  To name a few, our Naismith Award winner, our current football coach, many of our current players, and many of the greatest football players in school history, including our two most recent Heisman winners.

I will root for our servicemen and women from Ohio as they fight on our behalf.

as for sports, I don't root for any buckeye or sparty teams no matter the the game. I went to a Duke basketball game and was glad I was able to join the home crowd since the visiting team was the buckeyes.

I personally despise ohio. Always have, long before Hoke & Co. made it cool. I have friends who live and work in ohio and when I visit (extremely rare) I just feel dirty, like I am in the white trash capital of the world. The first time I ever visited I saw groups of grown men riding bikes to the bars. I asked a local who knew my friend what the deal was and she responded that they had likely lost their licenses to DUIs. That same night at a local hole in the wall bar I went to sing karaoke. I kiddingly joked that I would sing Juicy by Biggy. He told me he had never heard of the song. He found the lyrics, but he said the song was not available. He told me he could play 50 cent's in the club as background music. After I killed it the dj asked me how I knew that song. I responded back calmly with "I'm not from ohio" he shook his head in agreement. You just can't make his stuff up. I truly dislike ohio.

I don't mind the city of Cleveland, other than the Indians (oh how I hate the Indians), but other than that I hate everything about Ohio. I went to the frozen diamond face off and it seemed as though I was one of very few who had hatred towards Ohio hockey. Down to the fact they did a shit job of copying our helmets.

At least Michigan has some hills.  And tons of water.  My sis lives in Cincinnati.  That's pretty nice.  I think it's the Buckeye fans.  Buckeye fans are just insufferable, if you ask me.   They go on and on, spelling out OHIO all the time, and then they get mad at us if we say "ohio".  What the hell?  And that drum at the Indians games, oy, it's like a vuvuzela.....

i went to Michigan post-martin scandal.  our bball team was atrocious (they were giving tickets away).  so the only sport i truly cared for was football.

i hate ohio and their cheating ways.  i hate their fanbase and their pseudo-intelligent trash talking.   i hate urban meyer and his smug face.  most of all, i hate that they have had our number for years now.

but when i think about it, i feel bad for both schools because its far better to be a Wolverine than either.

because Dave Thomas was an Ohio booster.  I loathe the Yankees because of Steinbrenner's ties ( who btw was responsible for the Drew Henson debacle).  And I won't buy a Ford because WC Ford employed  Russ Thomas (an Ohio grad) to run the Lions.  That was dereliction at its finest!

Nothing drives Ohio State alumni and fans (take it from a guy banished to live amongst the heathen for the last decade) more crazy than simply telling them the truth, and that is that Michigan alumni and fans should ignore Ohio except when we play them.  Don't be like the slappys who live in Ohio and define yourself and your love for your team by rooting against anyone else.  What truly hurts them is when you ignore Ohio State...like we got to do basically during the Cooper years...We need those kind of years to come back!  My focus is Michigan, Michigan, Michigan, and the rest of the B1G and the country are just fodder for the only team that counts!
