how many wins this year for michigan football ?

Submitted by Mr_South_Beach on
I see 10 wins minimal this year this 3-3-5 & 4-2-5 defense were running looks got now that we have the talent to execute it . Our defense was the only thing stopping us from winning 8 games last year . With incoming freshman demar dorsey marvin robinson cullen christian jibril black & josh furman all expected to contribute this year & with our offense being better then last year I see 10 wins.

1. Learn some grammar and/or spelling. It doesn't have to be perfect prose, but someone shouldn't have to read your post three times to figure out what you are saying. 2. Learn the board. It's the middle of February. While we all care about football, there is little sympathy towards repeated posts, and less sympathy about posts that are talking about something 9 months away. 3. Add something to the board. This question is asked AT LEAST twice a week...and every time the reaction is the same. Why? Because it's always the same boring post. We don't care about your precious little snowflake of an opinion. How many wins next year is a worthless question, as are most variations such as 'how many wins for rich rod to keep his job?', 'how many wins if [player's name] gets hurt?', or 'how many wins if Denard moves to [position that isn't qb]?'. Learn the basic rules to avoid the negs and good luck.

The more important question is... How many threads predicting the 2010 win total will be posted between now and September

Uconn (H)- W (65% depends on how the young players play) ND- W (75% new coach, new QB) UMass(H)- W BG(H)- W IU- W MSU(H)- W (75% Finally end the streak) Iowa(H)- W (50% I'm feeling optimistic) PSU-L (40% New QB but Royster is back) Illinois(H)-W (Please God) Purdue- W (70% lost by what amounted to an Extra Point but with the offense in year 2...) Wisconsin(H)- L OSU- L 9-3 8-4 depending on Iowa

I really think it depends a lot on how that young DBs play. If they play well and our defense is average to above average we win more games than this. I just don't know how easy it is of a transition from high school to college is for Safeties and corners. I'm actually kind of interested in it. If someone more intelligent than me knows, please share.

You don't think we'll be bigger up front next year? You don't think our returners (which almost all of them are) will put on any weight? What about Roh, who played as a true frosh last year? Also consider that BG (263 lbs) will likely be replaced by moving RVB and MM over and adding Will Campbell (318 lbs). Losing BG and Stevie Brown from our front 7 won't be great for our pass D, but our run defense should be better. They will be bigger and more experienced than last year.

you're right; the front seven will be bigger next year. As for more experienced, that's true too. Still, losing the best players in their respective units hurts a ton. The linebackers will either a.) make a leap and be pretty solid, or b.) suck again. Losing Graham is killer. The front seven will probably be worse next year.

In light of the fact that in 2008 Steven Threet engineered a stirring back-from-the-dead victory, and this year's game will be in Ann Arbor, I'd say you have a great point. Of course, we need to take some big steps because they absolutley toyed with us in 2009.

Wisconsin is returning something like 16 starters (most in the Big Ten, I don't know the exact number), the only star they lose is Schofield, and they are very strong on offense with Clay and Tolzein returning. They only lost 3 games last year, and they should be second in the conference behind Ohio State. Those slow plodding white guys kicked our ass last year and we are losing more contributors than they are on defense.

The more these threads pop up, the less optimistic I become. I guess they make me think too much. And YES! TEN WINS after losing our three best players, having to use freshmen now on defense, YES! TEN WINS is the definite minimalistic exhortation for wins. I say UM wins four, tops.

We are able to talk ourselves into anything. While I don't agree with your prediction, the premise for it is pretty sound. Oh, but pessimism isn't allowed. Anyone who thinks 9-10 wins is totally delusional. We will be bad on defense again. Worse maybe. Oh but the freshmen starting in the secondary will be much, much better. And the front seven will be much better even though it loses an All-American. Sounds about right. Oh and Forcier will win 3 Heismans.

The fact that you expect all of those freshman to play is the exact reason why we won't win 10 games. It is extremely rare for a freshman to come in and do great. Predicting 10 wins when you're secondary is that young is crazy.

Talent comes from experience. I guarantee you 99.9% of collegiate athletes improve through experience by the time they are seniors. If you haven't noticed from all of the comments to all of your posts, use proper grammar. This isn't facebook or texting.

I don't know what's more appalling, the idea that adding freshmen to the defense is worth five extra wins, or the fact that you clearly skipped the part of school where they taught you about punctuation.
