Anyone have any insight? Especially after them showing up at gameday, I don't want a situation like vs. MSU 08 or vs. OSU 09
to play football, not to play trumpet
Between zero and 109901. I'm banking on less than half the stadium though.
Serious answer: most likely between 10,000-15,000. My guess is a bit less, I would expect road team attendence lowers when price gets this high, as its just not as big a deal for them as it is for us.
It's a much bigger deal for them. If we lose, we still have B1G play and are still 1-1. If they lose, they are 0-2, losing to two teams they should have beaten, and still have games vs MSU, USC, and Stanford. This is a team that many thought would be a BCS team this year. I think it's a much bigger deal for them.
I think he was referring to the whole night game thing. Not what it means in context of the season.
Exactly. It being the first night game means next to nothing for most ND fans, and thats what is driving up the price so much.
Who are these "many" people you speak of that thought ND was a BCS team this year? As far as the number of ND fans tonight... 15k would be my guess
But it's not like their fans saw them losing the first game. I'm pretty sure there weren't 10 or 20 thousand Notre Dame fans that went out and paid a thousand dollars a ticket this week just so they could have their teams back in the Big House. Them losing, and this becoming a bigger game for them now has no affect on how many ND fans will be at the game tonight.
they said more then 115 at gameday
they said more then 115 at gameday
There were not very many at GameDay, and I am guessing that the ratio there might reflect the ratio at the stadium more or less. I fully expect a nearly uninterrupted sea of maize and blue, as it should be.
More than I would have thought. I actually was surprised how many ND fans were at GameDay and/or walking around down by N. Univ and State this morning. I'm not saying they were taking over, but there were quite a few.
Not as many as there were Spartan fans here last year for MSU. God, I hated having them all over the place.
I'm worried it's gonna be like the '09 Ohio game where you could just see a sea of red. I'm think that because the prices are so high, a lot of people are scalping their tickets to ND fans. I can't tell you how pissed I am about that.
It is a bigger game for UM fans so there is greater demand than supply and prices went up. That is the reason for the excessive prices, NOT ND's overwhelming need/want for tickets.
I think you kind of missed the point. No where did I argue why prices went up, only that they did, which you seem to concur with. With the high prices, more people be selling their tickets. Even if there are many UM fans who want tickets because it's a big game, there will inevitably by ND fans who buy tickets from UM scalpers who aren't normally selling. Just because it's a bigger game for UM fans does not mean that every ticket sold will end up in a UM fan's hand.
fans hand, but using your rationale why would a casual or even die hard ND fan want to pay the exorbitant prices to the first night game at a stadium they dont care about? So the liklihood of ND fans coughing up the extra dough just to be there is not very likely.
Additionally, your OSU '09 analogy doesn't carry weight becuase UM was grossly over matched in that affair and in the midst of a poor season, so many fans, myself included, didnt want to watch our favorite team get lit up by our fiercest rival. The game prospectus for tonight is totally different, ND is desperate and their fans are pissed. While we are excited at the prospect of the first night game at OUR stadium, playing a rival that we have a very good chance to defeat, and Hoke is coaching in his first big game. So many draws for the UM fan and a nearly opposite situation from OSU '09.
...but they all secretly wish they could be Wolverine fans.
100-105k michigan fans at night will make the stadium too rowdy for ND to handle (YES COLIN COWHERD, YOU HEARD ME)
I don't know, but I would not mind this girl coming back.
How long have you been waiting to bust that one out?
Ever since the ESPN crew decided they needed to show the 2 ND hotties multiple times in the same game. I think it was worth the wait.
the zit picking was a total turnoff
Hopefully, by the start of the 4th there are none!
The same number as it takes to screw in a lightbulb...which is to say, approximately 10,000.
I don't mind a big crowd from any fanbase not Notre Dame, Michigan State and Ohio State. The less the better.
Ohio State has the WORST fans in the country, any sport, any league, period. The Notre Dame fanbase is classy. They respect UM and the rivalry. Their fans will not be a factor
Not as many as you think. Dozens are walking away from the stadium without tickets.
