How to Listen to Frank and Brandy while watching NBC

Submitted by Augger on

Hey all,

This is a repeat from last year, but I am sure we have some new members here at mgoblog, or maybe you just didn't catch the posting last year.  One of the things I love about watching Michigan football is listening to Frank and Brandy call the game.  Obviously they will never equal Ufer, but they are wonderful in their own homer way.  The problem is that for away games the video feed is behind the radio feed so you cant use a DVR or Tivo to line them up properly.  This was a bummer to me, as the choices were to watch the game with the radio looking 2-3 seconds in the future of the video or listening to the ABC, or even worse NBC announcers.  Some company actually makes a radio type tivo product and I was right on the edge of ordering it, when I noticed something wonderful.  The official radio feed pumped through the official Michigan site at [http://www.mgoblue.com/allaccess/] is available so you can listen to the game on the net.  This feed is significantly behind the video feed, usually 10-20 seconds behind, thus you can now use a DVR to line up the audio from the internet with the video from TV...You just use a laptop or some other computer hook up to broadcast the game while you watch it on TV.  It takes a few plays to line things up properly, and sometimes you have to readjust things after half time, but it works really well.  The only negative I get is that I am now 10-20 seconds behind the live blog, so if I am watching that during the game, I am constantly getting a mini preview and my comments are always a little behind everyone else's...Other than that though, it works like a champ and its great to hear the Homer radio with the National video...

Hope this helps someone this year.

My yamaha audio receiver has a function that allows me to delay the audio and sync it up.  That would work to.

I just listen to the ND homers.  It makes me hate ND more- which is always a good thing.

I am not very tech savvy. Is that a certain type of radio?  Can I get one to use on an internet feed?  I don't have a DVR but I do the internet  feed and just endure the delay for a lot of games. Especially the Tom Hammond game.

Thanks for this thread.

Yamaha is a receiver/audio electronics brand. I don't know if the delay feature is standard across the receivers or if that is only an option on the higher end ones. You could most likely plug your sound card from your computer into the recover and then play that through the speakers hooked up to the receiver.

but the mgoblue audio of the game was actually a few seconds ahead of the broadcast.  I'm down in SEC country so I'm amazed it was ahead but still love listening to Frank and Big Jim over the domer homers.

while watching the TV I have actually liked the radio telling me what was going to happen so I knew where to focus on the TV broadcast.  It was like watching with the KNOWLEDGE.

I was just sitting here wishing i did not have to listen to the TV audio of the game.

Great info.

But now i have a problem i hope someone out there can help me with.  I am the least computer savvy person in the world.

Here is the problem i just noticed.....my volume control is stuck on 50.....way too high. But...no matter what i do with the pointer i cannot get it to bring up the volume adjuster. Right click or left it does nothing.    Anyone have a solution?  This is a fairly new Toshiba laptop and i have never had this problem before.  I cannot even get it to mute.

If anyone has a solution i would be most grateful.   You can even have all my MGO points....all 105 of them.

Thanks in advance to anyone with a solution.
