How interested was Tebow in Michigan?

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

With all of this stuff about the NCAA 13 game, where you have heisman players at any school. It made me search up some winners and look at their recruitments to see how realistic it would have been with them coming to Michigan.

I looked up Tim Tebow's rivals page as a class of 2006er, and it had Michigan in his top-5 teams of interest along with alabama, USC, Florida, LSU.

As recent as 2010 I started to really get into recruiting and wasn't too closely following it back in 2006. So my question is, does anybody know if Tim Tebow was really interested in coming to Michigan? Did he take official visits? Woud love to know, thanks.

According to Tebow's biography, he was impressed with Michigan's tradition and that's why he scheduled Michigan as one of his five official visits. However it was really Alabama and Florida all the way. (interesting tidbit, on a visit to Notre Dame he thought the weather was too cold and immediately eliminated them from contention)

he wrote that it was pretty much a toss up, and he didnt know up until the moment which he was going to choose. He felt it would be wrong to back out of the decision, and as we all know, went with Meyer. These calls aren't as sure thing for some of these kids as they may seem. Anyway, glad it worked out for Tebow and Meyer doesn't have him anymore.

it was always Bama or Florida for tebow. And off the top of my head, he wouldn't have been comfortable in Michigan's pro style offense.

I bet if he was still in HS during the Rich Rod era he would have taken a much closer look at Michigan, but in Carr's system, I can't see a scenario in which he would have been comfortable.

Case in point: Tebow still can't master a pro style offense in his 3rd year in the NFL.

when it comes to being among the top 5 schools for five-star recruits who eventually sign with some other program.

Interested enough that the Google search 'tim tebow shirtless' directed somebody to MGoBlog, making him the first ever OMGShirtless-level recruit.

First thing I thought of when I read this post. It's amazing just how accepted some of the different sayings that Brian and MGoblog has produced over the years has become. At least in my daily conversations it has. Tacopants, four fakes out of five, YMRMFSFPA etc.

He took an official visit to Michigan - he sat a few rows in front of me at the game - and we were in his top 5, but I got the feeling that Michigan was never really in his top 2 or 3.
