How does Denard heal and recover between games?

Submitted by snoopblue on

Denard played great the past two weeks but took a beating and is probably VERY sore today. How do you think he heals his body? He probably takes an ice bath daily, but does anyone know if there is a hyperbaric oxygen chamber in Schembechler Hall? A lot of NFL players have them to recover (T.O., Tim Tebow, etc.) and although it may seem pretty extreme to use on a college player, HAVE YOU SEEN THIS KID PLAY!? It definitely helps with swelling and bruising. What are other sports medicine healing techniques?

Anyone with more KNOWLEDGE or inside information on this topic please reply!

There is a cold tub in Schemebchler, which I know he uses, and there is also a massage bed thing, and there is a trainer who is trained in deep tissue message (not sure if he takes advantage of these, tate used to though). There is also your typical training techiniques if he has any swelling like, ultrasound, ice, compression, stim, and this red laser thing.

i've had this done twice when i was in PT in highschool (4 years ago).  it was explained to me then that the laser penetrates the skin and breaks some cell walls causing them to heal faster (i think the physical therapist had no idea how to explain it).  i asked some one else about it later and they explained it as being similar to ultra sound.  what happens is the laser fires into your skin and pulsates billions of times per second similar to ultra sounds that fire sound waves into your skin and pulsate at presumably slower rates.  this vibration relaxes and helps heal soft tissue damage.
