How do you handle losing?

Submitted by Marvin on

It sucks when Michigan loses. I feel it all week. But I think it takes character and strength to pick yourself up, whether you're a fan/alum or a player, and move on. So next week is Illinois, another team of dorks. Who's with me? Let's drink, watch more football today, and look forward to next week's game. I like our team, and I like Brady Hoke. Not sure yet about Uncle Festus. I do think Denard can pass the ball for what it's worth.

this one in particular has thrown me in a pretty substantial downward spiral.  On my agenda for the rest of the night is a quick viewing of Shindler's List and My Life, followed by a cover to cover reading of the The Road by Cormac McCarthy.  If I am going down I am going to go down hard.

Ouch.  That really did not need to happen.

If Denard could pass, he'd have hit Treezy on the post route, he wouldn't have 3 balls deflected by linemen, and wouldn't just throw balls up for grabs (toward the end of the game).

I think he should be our QB, but he can't hit a man when he needs to.

Edit:  He also wouldn't invite defenses to stack the box because they know he can't throw

If Treezy didn't slow down to signal Denard's throw hits him in stride. I thought Denard cut down on just flinging it up for grabs. Most of his throws were solid on the scoring drives in the 4th. The tips at the line are tough, but Denard is 5'11'' which isn't ideal for a QB. I agree it's an issue, and he should consider pump-faking and running by those guys when he's isolated one-on-one on a rollout.

I thought he hit Hemingway fine at the end there, don't you?

He threw at least 3 deep balls in the last 5 minutes that I remember that had no chance of being caught.  The pass to Roundtree was several steps ahead of him, and when you're a receiver who's that wide open you need to get your QB's attention.

I can't tell if you're being sarcastic about hitting Hemingway fine at the end (on the No-TD).  Junior made a hell of a catch on a pretty inaccurate throw.

Yeah I missed the /s tag for the last bit. It was a remarkable catch, and we're obviously all bitter about the call.

It's hard to say if Borges was trying to throw downfield, or nobody was open so Denard just saw one-on-one coverage and made safe overthrows (WAY overthrown obviously). I'm more annoyed with Borges than Denard.

While I agree he is putting too much blame on Denard, you can't blame that overthrow on Roundtee signaling that he's open.  I mean, Denard didn't even see him until Tree waved his hand.  If Denard could somehow find some touch on his deep-balls (that aren't underthrows on purpose ala ND) he would be so much more dangerous.  I honestly can't remember a throw this year where Denard has hit a receiver running a deep-route in stride.

I agree, there's no doubt Denard could have made some more passes, but let's not all jump back on the anti-Denard bandwagon because it just simply makes no sense.  Just remember that for every overthrown pass, he had an amazing play to avoid a sack, etc. that somebody such as Kirk Cousins or Vandenberg wouldn't make.

The receivers have made a ton of mistakes and should be credited with a lot of mistakes as well.  Along with the receivers, we also have to think about Borges.  I am not quite as harsh on him as most people have been, but I do think he needs to work to optimize Denard's abilities.  For instance, if Denard was amazing at over-the-top throws, I'd want Borges to do more of those, but that's just not his strength.  Work to what will make Denard and the offense most effective, which is short passes from shotgun, designed runs, and spreading out opponents.  I think we should work in some of the conventional system, but let's not just throw that stuff out the window until the 4th quarter

Get some agression out. Then I'll go to a friends, smoke hookah. Calming effects. Friend's throwing a party tonight. I'll probably go there. Met a girl who look like Emma Stone there last time. It should be legit. Oh and then I'll come back and cry about this game.

2 non call P.I in the end zone one is intercepted the other ends the game, A TD overturned ( the hemmingway one not the V. smith one). Our offense played bad yes , but we did'nt lose that game and Iowa did not beat us, the Ref's stole that game.

My patience with Al Borgess is pretty slim. I'm trying to have faith in the fact that he is not retarded , but it's not easy.  At least this year we're in the games till the end , makes me excited about the future , but i feel bad for the seniors. they where clearly robbed today

The PI on the INT was not in the end zone. The INT was, but the PI was at the 5 or so. The TD was not overturned. They failed to overturn the non-TD to give us a TD.

We still had to get a 2pt conversion and win in OT if that was ruled a TD. In all likelihood, we lost that game before those calls. I'm just pissed that they removed all doubt.

I pray for unbridled chaos in the BCS. I want every single game to be an upset. The rest of the world needs to feel my pain.

And then I turn off all the halftime shows so I don't have to watch our low-lights.

Poorly.

I do better, however, with alcohol, but usually I just overeat.

I do even better if MSU, OSU, or ND lose.

As a side note MSU struggled against Minnesota today.  WTF, did Coach Kill start putting funny stuff in his team's water?  They are competitive all of a sudden.

Illinois has two weeks to prep for Michigan.  I hope we can beat them or we're looking at another end of the year swoon.

I could go complain to Al Borges or to the Big Ten office. But you know what I'm gonna do instead? Nothing! Because if I take it to small claims court, it will just drain 8 hours out of my life and Delaney probably won't show up and even if I got the judgment he'd just stiff me anyway; so what I am going to do is piss and moan like an impotent jerk, and then bend over and take it up the tailpipe!

Just another blown opportunity. We gave this game away. Bad call at the end because that was a TD and the last one was PI... I'm still pissed!!! Season is over now I just hope we don't drop 8 in a row to TSIO

Depends on how they lose. Today, I am a little pissed.

P. I. on the pick. P.I. on the last play. All the drops. The insistence to call routes 30 plus yards when that type of play just isn't in the cards with Denard. The lack of guts to call a TD a TD.

I am pretty frustrated. They should have had that one.

I turn the TV off and do homework. Because there's more important shit to do than to feel depressed and angry. However, I tend to F5 MGoBlog a lot when I do homework...

Ten years ago, it took me days to get over a loss.  Days.

Now, I basically spew a stream of nonsense potty words for about five minutes, as a sort of cleansing ritual.  That usually gets it all out.

Varies time to time: previous entries have been anger, sadness, alcohol, working out (last few OSU games), my personal favorite was this year after the Central/Eastern we lost in the final minute I hooked up with a girl that goes to Eastern who was visiting her sister who I know, the way I handle that was good I thought
