How could 2014 be better?

Submitted by Hill.FootballR… on

I will start this off by saying I am a little perplexed with why 2013 is looked at as such a failure. I have read all the reasons, but personally I feel there was a lot of good, a lot of heartbreak, and a lot of bad; nothing worse than other years as a whole except many people lost faith in Michigan's main sport that we thought was turning around.

With that said, I truly do not believe how I could have imagined 2014 getting off to a better start. So without re-hashing everything that everyone reading this post already knows, my question is this:

If I asked you as the ball dropped on New Years to describe the perfect first 9 days of Michigan sports in 2014, what one thing would you have changed in your most optimistic dreams from what has become reality?

Go.

Is brought to the public's eye.

"Hey guys Beilein had this made just in case something happened.  He'll be taking my place until the tournament"

Hoping and assuming he's back at tourny time.

  1. UM Men's BB makes the final four.
  2. UM Hockey makes the frozen four.
  3. Red Wings make the conference finals.
  4. Piston's in hunt for a playoff spot near season's end.
  5. Tigers win the World Series.
  6. My son's HS football team wins at Ford Field Thanksgiving weekend.
  7. UM Football makes the B1G title game.
  8. Lions have at least one playoff win.

I would not be unhappy if every one of these besides #5 & #6 exceed my expectations!

The football team sucked in 2013. That was the only abnormally crappy thing that happened in 2013 (aside from the hockey team missing the tourney but most of us saw that coming sooner or later anyway with how the team had been doing in the last 5)

Now the rampaging emo at the end of 2013 has led to rampaging optimism in 2014. What has happened?? A few basketball wins against bad Big Ten teams, a new OC, and...OSU loses a position coach?

How emotionally unstable are we? Today Derrick Walton will tweet "Man, I'm sore today" and everyone will go "NOOOO NOW 2014 IS THE WORST YEAR EVER!!! :(((((". Get a grip everyone.

MSU not winning the Rose Bowl comes to mind.  From Jan. 2 onward it's been pretty good, but that was not my dream New Year's Day scenario.
