How costly was the missed extra point?

I didn't think much of it at the time. We were still ahead by 13 when we missed the extra point. I certainly didn't think it would affect the outcome. I couldn't tell from the TV view, was it partially blocked?

Couldn't see the game live, but I don't think anyone on the CiL mentioned it being blocked. Then again, there were like 200 comments within half a second.

In the end, there were plenty of other things that went into the score. Can't pin it all on that.

Not sure what we were thinking going for it on 4th and 10 on Purdue's 20 with 4 1/2 to go.

Kick the field goal, Minors touchdown and we win. Instead we go for it on fourth, play breaks down, we do an option and the rest is history.

Seriously with over 4 minutes to play, you have to get the points hope our D holds them to 3 and out(which is tough to imagine so far this year) and get a chance for the win.

I was happy to see them go for it on fourth and ten. Who's to say are D would hold. If Purdue got going they'd run the clock out and we'd never see the ball. The D hasn't held hardly at all this year. Minors touchdown may have never happend if they wouldn't have went for it. Purdue pinned themselves with the penalities which set up the put for hemmingway to return it to the ten. I wish they wouldn't have tried for a 55 yard fg. They shoulda pooched punt with tate or tried to pick up a first down.

On a side note, I made it to my first game this year and there was this lady sayin " Go back to west virgina RR, we don't fn want you" and on and on. Its pretty sad when are own fans try to ride RR out of the damn state before he's had a chance to do anything. It made me want to pull a wayne brady off chappeles show and ask her if i needed to choke a bitch.

Also when brian was complaining about the piped in music I thought he may have been complainig to just complain, but after being there It really does suck. It may have something to do with speaker positioning and crappy speakers but I coulda done without it.

I'm packin it in. It was a tough season everyone, we had some moments, but in the end there wasn't really that much progress. I don't even care who wins the next two games or if we make a bowl game.

Hope our recruiting goes well and that we make some strides in the off season. Everyone that is screaming for RR getting fired or any other nonsense, get a grip. He's going to get at least 2 more years, and rightfully so.

Just get over it. Move on to hoping next year we make real progress, or then it'll get really ugly.

Good luck and good night.

I'm not sure how forcier didn't see that guy. However, I really can't pin this on the offense. The O has been puttin up points that I can't really remember when carr was there. Not nearly as costly as blowing a 14 point lead.

seeing that we lost by two, it doesn't matter.

I feel more like I do now than I did when I got here.

one missed point in this case cost us two points really.

One on the original touchdown, and by technicality (through forcing us to go for two) one on the final touchdown.

edit: but I can't really get on Olesnavage's case for it. Dude hit his career-long today.

edit2: I don't know who negged you, but it wasn't me (really now, how is that comment neggable? +1 for a bit of offset)

obviously, it was very critical. Hard to rag on the kicker after he hit that 52 yarder today though.

I have a hard time ragging on Olesnavage, period. For most of the season he's been at the very least competent, and at the best quite good.

After all, he's a walk-on who didn't see game action at all before this year. Yet before today, he had missed exactly one field goal and no extra points, which had him as the 22nd best kicker in the country in terms of percentage, and a bunch of the dudes ranked ahead of him are only there because they're 1-of-1 on the season. (In the same time frame, Wisconsin's kicker missed 6 FGs and 1 XP!)

Lots of kickers have missed at least one XP this season. Notre Dame's K, who has hit 93.3% of his FGs, has missed 3 this season.

In general, we have enjoyed kicking competence for years at Michigan, and Olesnavage has more or less continued that tradition. He had two bad kicks on a really windy day, and I'm sure he's beat himself up plenty over it.

Olesnavage has been a bright spot this season, and I hope he gets the NFL tryout he deserves.

with you until the last part. Olesnavage doesn't have the leg to consistently make long kicks. And if you are going to be drafted or signed as a FA, I think you have to have good accuracy at long distance.

That being said, Olesnavage has been a bright spot. Missing 1 XP and a field goal or 2 would have vastly overshot my expectations for our kicker.
