Hope for Pahokee Eating Garden Kickstarter Video Update #1
Tae Odoms, Vincent Smith, and the Robot Hustle Crew released video update #1 for the Pahokee Eating Garden. The video shows the future site of the garden and what can be expected when it is complete. Great job, Tae, Vince, and anyone who has helped out with the kickstarter!

To embed in the OP you have to click the box on youtube that says "use old embed code"

Thanks for embedding, it's all the way at the top so it's the next best thing to having it in the OP!
I'm as unskilled as it gets when it comes to this type of thing - can't even seem to find the box you're referring to, and I'm sure once I did find it I'd manage to screw something up anyways....

You have to click "Share" first (on youtube), then click "Embed", then check the "Use old embed code" box, copy the code, go into your OP and switch to plain text mode, and paste it.

Many of the t-shirt rewards were misprinted so there were delays on those that Tae has kept us abreast of. I still haven't received mine but the updates have eased my mind that it will eventually get to me.
I can't speak to the note....you may want to contact him through the kickstarter.
I received my t-shirt yesterday, so they must have the corrected t-shirts in. I wouldn't be surprised if you receive yours in the next couple of days as I live in Oklahoma City.
I'm in the greater Phoenix area, so they'll have to unload the shirts from trucks onto camels to get them here, so I'm hoping by the weekend!
The last of the post cards are going out tommorow. Thank you for your support and patience.
The shirts are being shipped out right now. If you ordered either the Rising Helmet or the Rising Mi it will be a few more weeks.

Using the tremendous platform that Michigan Football provides to better your community, that's what being a Michigan Man is all about. I hate when that term gets overused and people make arguments about needing ties to the school, but love it when it actually applies, like it does here.
I recieved my zippy a couple days ago. It's sweet!
Not to be a douche (okay, it's a little douchey), but it makes me sad that a post concerning two former players who left about 1,000 gallons of sweat on the field for M and are now spending a good deal of their time trying to create a community-based garden to feed hungry families has garnered 10 replies (now 11), but posts concerning whether drunk sorority girls should or should not be able to get good seats at the Big House, and whether they should pay $200 or $300, and whether or not this is "fair," have garnered several hundreds of replies.

but I take it as a good thing. Usually only really devisive posts rack up a lot of hits. Well, that or commitments. I think at this point, we're so used to seeing Martavious and Vincent do good things that we read it and don't feel compelled to compliment/comment because it's almost expected at this point that they're doing good things.
We started #EATING because we felt like it represents rolemodles and positive influences on younger generations and communities.
Because a lot of kids from my community don't have positive rolemodles.
Why is it expected that we are doing good things?
It shouldnt be expected because I could be not doing anything and home playing video games and becasue I want to make a difference I put a lot of effort into seeing young kids and the community come together for the better.
We do what we do because we want to see success and change in the communities.

I think he was saying people aren't surprised to see you're doing good things because you have been doing good things in the past, so seeing news about you (and Smith) doing more good isn't anything people don't expect now.
I'm sure it was meant as a compliment, like when you're getting ready to play a good opponent you expect them to play well because they always do.
The garden in Miami which they highlighted (I think they filmed portions of it in the other video on the Hope For Pahokee site too) looks awesome, if that's the base inspiration for the layout. I thought that having a section for each housing project in Pahokee was a very cool idea too.
I believe they also applied for a grant from the Florida Department Of Agriculture late last year, but I don't know if there have been any updates on the status of the application.
It is great to see two people who gave so much to Michigan take that same energy and dedication and use it in their community.
The grant we applied for we hadn't heard back and are focusing on the merchandise and the mailing and the garden.

I don't live anywhere near Pahokee but that would be an awesome thing for people to do.
Here's an idea - any fraternity, sorority, church group, etc. could get together & travel to Pahokee when Tay & Vincent need a lot of muscle so they can support the cause. Can't say I'm connected to any group which would be game for that but hopefully someone who reads this is and can help move them along.
