Hoops Open Thread vs. Indiana

Submitted by BlackEvanDown on
Thread for the basketball game today vs. Indiana. In the first 7 minutes, Douglass has a long three and Novak has two. Manny has been forcing it, and Indiana looks a little sloppy without Creek. M will have to force turnovers to win this game. Luckily, the crowd has been pretty quiet because most of the Indiana students are not back yet.

Looks like his flu is finally gone and he can function as he normally does. That foul was a make-up for the missed travel a few possessions ago. As for Morris, if he can develop that in a set offense, then he will get better and give the offense another dimension. For what it's worth, the refs have been typical Big 10 awful today both ways.

The two threes shifted the momentum to Indiana. Wright had a chance to shift it back, but that was an incredibly weak move to an open basket leaving the block wide open for IU's Pritchard.

Michigan needs to recruit (which they already are) and play more athletic players. It is easier to play defense with a more athletic group of guys to contest shots. I'd also like to see a guy like Darius Morris given a little more free reign on offense to create some shots for other guys. Right now, it's a bit one dimensional. And bad. I'd also rather see Eso get minutes (and be more aggressive offensively when he's in there) than watch A. Wright bomb threes like a bad player at the local Y.

Anthony Wright and Manny Harris are the reasons we're losing right now. Combined at half: 1-8 shooting, 2 Reb, 1 Ast, 2 PF, 2 points Death.

the bball team are eerily reminiscent of the special teams gaffes last year. Seems like they are a problem that would at least decrease in regularity and doesn't have a ton of explanation. Very frustrating.

If Manny Harris fouls out, they are going to lose to the worst team in the Big Ten. Cheap foul helping out Sims, who cannot play defense (as I type he just fouled a guy shooting a 17 footer).

contributing in this game at all. I don't get it sometimes, he is the best player on the court but acts like he doesn't care. His attitude reminds of Rasheeds w/o the techs. Just seems like his heart isn't in it.

isn't making shots, he provides little in the way of defense and I don't understand what he really offers. He should get about 5 shots to see if he is on. If he's not, he doesnt play as much.
