I tired of all the people around OSU defending him, earlier on espn some guy from the plain dealer said tressel should go down as greater then Woody this to me is a joke.

even if Tressel were to come out and admit that, the excuse would be "yeah well he only said that because rabble rabble sacrifice rabble take the fall rabble rabble."

I'm afraid they will never learn.

Hooley puts it all on Pryor.

There's enough smoke in Tressel's past for me not to believe that. We'll see what SI has to say on Tuesday.

Maybe it's good that OSU fans worship Tress. They can hire a replacement just like him and get slapped as a repeat offender.

I'm bored by the flat-earth society in Columbus.  Tressel was worried about his players but the actions that he took  was to preserve his shot at a championship.  Anything else is either a fairy tale or ancillary facts that God can take into consideration.  The only thing that's interesting to me is how much trouble the university/program is for tattoo gate and how dirty the program is otherwise.

A good article, but it feels a little simplistic - Pryor was certainly a bad apple, but OSU (as most big-time programs in America) have suffered through them before.  Pryor is not Manson, who destroyed a noble program with his prodigious ego and devious crimes the world has never seen before; he's an egotistical football player with great physical talent but little maturity or desire to learn.  In that respect, he's like 3-4 kids who play major ball each year.  OSU should have been able to handle the situation better, and Tressel should have handled him the way he did with Troy Smith, Maurice Clarett (okay, bad example), Andy Katzenmoyer, and a slew other top-notch kids with problems.  But he failed spectacularly, and that's why he was fired.  Blaming Pryor for being more than a jerk and a spoiled brat is to undermine the lack of foresight and control displayed by OSU both this year and before.

Maybe this was simply the straw that broke the camel's back with OSU under Tressel, a guy who maintained public piety while he and his teams repeatedly broke rules and were involved in shady dealings.  In that respect, I guess, he's like the guy everyone wants to replace him with - Urban Meyer.  Because he had Tebow and because he won two NCs, people forget the numerous arrests, the kids failing to stay out of jail and in class, and some of the "shady" recruiting claims that always float around major college programs in the SEC.  So it will be interesting to see how this plays out over the next year or so, and see if OSU manages to skirt major sanctions with the departure of Tressel (I have my doubts).  But while this article makes major points about how Pryor was a major source of angst in the OSU family, trying to blame Tressel's fall on him, or even stating he was a major cog, unfairly absolves Tressel of his past missteps.

Calling Pryor a Buckeye legend is a little strong. Sure, the record is impressive on paper. But does anyone feel like they are watching a truly special player when they see TP? Does he do anything that makes you think "God, that guy is the man" like, say, Troy Smith did?

No. He was born with million dollar physical attributes and is dime-quality in everything else.

New allegations on Pryor are supposedly coming out, and according to 11 Warriors, it might end his playing career at OSU. Allegations say he recieved cars and other benefits. If true, this extends past Tressell, and anybody hoping the OSU sanctions are going to be lessened by Tressel leaving might be in for a rude awakening.

Edit: I haven't seen this discussed before and I don't have the power to make a thread, so if anyone wants to, go ahead.

If that second article that you link is correct, or even close, I don't think we'll see Pryor suiting up anytime soon . . .

It is so great that Hooley got fired by a radio station, but had a MSM outlet in town that allowed him to cover the story that got him fired elsewhere.  I am shocked and impressed that Fox Sports Ohio has the journalistic integrity to allow him to cover this story.  I am also very happy for Hooley and for the Dirtiest Program in College Football finally being exposed for what it truly is.
