Home Opener - Game Day Experience Suggestions
Months ago, I purchased tickets for next week's home opener vs. Oregon State. I finally received confirmation that they have been shipped. Despite last night's outcome, I am extremely excited for next weekend. A few friends and I plan to get to Ann Arbor early to tailgate and then stay the night. Although we have been to countless games over the years, this will be our first time staying in Ann Arbor after the game.
My questions is, does anyone have any suggestions for what restaurant we should go to or what we should do at night to enhance the game day experience?
P.S. I do not need any help on how I can watch the game while we are there.

Does Rick's have a good burger and good beer?

Rick's does nto have any food. It is a nightclub/dancing place in the basement underneath Amer's on Church Street, across from Pizza House. They have bottled beer and limited beer on draft, as well as simple drinks/shots. It is a late night place to go to get relatively cheap drinks, celebrate the upcoming year with the students (especially as it is Welcome Week), and get intoxicated.
There will likely be a line by 9-10pm tonight, with like 400-500 people packed into a dark basement with a DJ playing top 40 hits. It's not everyone's type of place to go to, but if you go with the mentality to have fun, you should have a good time.

Does the Jolly Pumpkin have a good burger?

The burger at Jolly is in the runnung for best in the city along with Frita Batidos, Caseys, etc. I concur about their carnivore pizza and don't slight the steak salad --all worth the trip (wait).

Although I've been to the Dexter and Ann Arbor locations, I had the opportunity to eat at the one in Traverse City a few weeks ago - on the Mission Peninsula right near Bowers Harbor. The food doesn't lose a step going four hours north of Ann Arbor, but you can't beat that location for the outlooks, I would say.

If you haven't been in Ann Arbor for a while, there have been some changes.
There are many places to eat (with a wide range of cuisine and prices) all along Main Street and the immediate branching streets. Then moving up Liberty towards Campus there are a lot of newer places - Korean style barbecue (Tomokun's) and new pizza places (Neopolis) and Knight Steakhouse Downtown (original one is out further west near Zingerman's Roadhouse).
Can't go wrong - suspect post game will be packed so get reservations or be patient.
Have a good time!
