Hollowell almost ready to commit to M
"It seems like I am about to commit to Michigan because me and my parents have been going over it. I think that's the spot right now," Hollowell said. "Their academic program is good, the environment is good and their football team is excellent."
He suggested that a commitment could come later this month.

He's a 2011 DB recruit from Cass Tech
Sorry should have put that in the title or original post

I believe he just transfered to Renaissance, so if he does in fact commit, he could work on Lawrence Thomas for us.

Would be nice to have someone working on probably the #1 recruit in the state of Michigan. And a LB to boot!

I must have missed that. When did this happen?

Im not 100% sure on this(because I cant find the article) but I remember reading that he was transferring. I think he just did it a couple weeks ago for this semester.

There's a brand new article on Rivals about Hollowell, and it doesn't mention anything about transferring. In fact, the opening said something like "Cass Tech has sent a player to the U.S. Army All American Bowl for three years in a row, and Delonte Hollowell is going to try to extend that streak." I would imagine that Josh Helmholdt wouldn't have written that if Hollowell would have transferred.

It may have implications reaching towards Dior Mathis. Would be glad to have 'em both.

If those measurables are accurate he must be the best jamming corner in the history of mankind.

...and their football team is excellent
Dear Sweet Jebus, someone hide the 2008 and 2009 defensive game film from this kid until after signing day.

Granted he's in the 2011 class, but with him close to being on board (verbally that is) as well as Greg Brown, it makes the sting of possibly not landing Grimes in this class a bit easier to take. I'd much rather see recruiting turn into taking a few quality prospects per position as depth is built instead of being forced to take huge classes focused on OL as was a few years ago and then DB; as was the this year.

Murphy to Maryland? Grimes probably to follow....Shit news..
Hope we pull off Parker.

Is every CB out of Cass Tech about 5'9'' and tiny? It started with Boo Boo and Cortez Smith, then Dior Mathis this year, and now Hollowell. You can also throw Jones in there since he moved to DB this year.
January 8th, 2010 at 11:44 PM ^
No. Some are 5'7".

i guess itd be nice to get our corners taken care of early this year. its really apparent that rich rod is getting his in state roots down though, isn't it!? i'm very, very excited.

What are the chances that one of these guys moves to safety? I mean this year we have Avery, Christian, Talbott,(tiny maybe) Grimes coming in at CB, and talk that Conelius Jones may switch to corner as well. 2011 we already have Greg Brown, thats a lot of corners.
January 9th, 2010 at 10:44 AM ^
a) If Conelius Jones plays defense, it will be safety.
b) Grimes isn't a foregone conclusion.
c) Our cornerback depth chart for next year includes the following: Turner, Floyd, Jones, Avery, Christian, Talbott. That's only six corners (Woolfolk should be a safety next year).
d) I don't think we should choose positions based on Greg Brown stepping on the field in 1 year and 9 months. He's even 13 months away from signing day.
