Holiday Bowl Open Thread

Submitted by LSAClassOf2000 on

This one is again created early for everyone's convenience, and in the event that I am putting the kiddos to bed when the game starts. If nothing else, we need to match the hilarity of last night's Belk Bowl thread, which was a wonderful indictment of the game itself.

What everyone has been waiting for - The Bridgepoint Education Holiday Bowl!

So, tune in to ESPN again at 8 PM for California (7-5) versus Texas (7-5) in another battle of so-so teams that will hopefully provide everyone some great Wednesday night entertainment.

I went Texas on this one in the pool.

I'll take this opportunity to jump in and take issue with that sentiment. I think we've been lapping up a little too much haterade on MGoBoard this bowl season. These teams are coming out full blast leading to some pretty competitive games, and I'll take the mistakes we've been seeing over Oklahoma's pompous "why the hell should we show up to play these guys" attitude. As someone who enjoys watching high school football on up (as opposed to just watching high powered programs), I think these games have been pretty entertaining.

Anyone find it ironic that two of the best schools in the country are playing in a game designed to advertise for two of the crappiest schools in the country (Bridgeport runs Ashford University and University of the Rockies)?

We're going to hear Cal fans are pissed that Texas campaigned and took their Rose Bowl berth?

Hell, don't know what they're mad about; it's us who got screwed. We would have killed Cal.

Ah, muffed punt. Teams come and go, crappy play remains. Thank you bowl season.

Ed: Now we're reviewing the overturned muffed punt call. There could be four changes of possession during this play.

Gosh, I love that word....I need to start using it in meetings.

An interception is a terrible way to end your drive from 3rd and 20, but then, you weren't really going to get that 1st down anyway, were you?
