Brady Hoke was on the Dan Patrick Show for about 10 minutes this morning. He talked Michigan-ND, Pizza Thursday, Clowney taking Smith's head off (I don't have any sound at work and haven't didn't listen to the broadcast so I am completely plagiarising here)...and of course Johnny Football. Cause why not.

The article above is mostly about what coach Hoke's answer to Dan Patrick's Johnny Football question, but it does have the video of the whole 10 min block where Brady is on. Anyway's here is my favorite quote  of the article,

If Johnny Manziel's our quarterback, he'd probably be playing behind Devin Gardner.

Please embed the video in the comments if possible, since that's the only thing that matters.

Totally buy that quote from Hoke and agree with it.  Devin has made sacrifices for the team and is a leader.  Manziel is an ass.  Pretty simple.  And I were Hoke and people were still asking me about that Clowney hit I would tell them I can't remember it because it was so long ago.

I don't know what's so crazy about that statement. There are a couple ways to look at it:

  • Manziel doesn't play based on his attitude.
  • Manziel and Devin have a heated QB competition to run Borges' offense.

Both of these scenarios could lead to Devin starting (although not likely). He's got an incredibly high ceiling, and the argument could be made that Devin will be the better NFL prospect.

Good interview by Brady and I thought DP did a decent job as the interviewer as well; when I first read he was asking about Manziel and what not I thought it would be a bit tacky but it wasn't (FWIW I do enjoy DP and listen multiple times a week, I shouldn't have underestimated him).
