per halftime interview.
met with him today and will meet with him again tomorrow.
He also said he can't wait to start "touching people" ....
right, so that was among the comments i didn't like as much.
I think it's tremendous.
Some people have said that he's a good recruiter.....maybe "touching" is his trick.
Ask Tom Brady and see what he says.
Ah yes. The ol' Hokey-Pokey.
don't forget the thousands of players they've been able to touch...as a family haha, i can't wait for football season, so excited
This past and potential "touching" has been mentioned a lot today. I hope he stops saying. I could not help but laugh during the press conference.
On a serious note though, I am glad we did get another coach that seems like they will care about their players as people on and off the field.
Come on man, give him a break. Everybody touches people...touches you, touches me...
oops double post
I am very confident that Hoke will adjust to use Denard to the best of his abilities on the field.
Brady Hoke knows it is in the best interest of the team to make it work.
I really hope that is a type and not the reason Denard is staying.
He sounds like Chris Farley's motivational speaker character. I love it.
Glen Foley? In a van down by the river?
I like old jets quaterbacks as well
Matt Foley. But given the way Glenn's NFL career went, he may be living in a van down by the river too.
Matt Foley: [ runs up the stairs, bouncing back and forth as he talks ] Alright, how's everybody? Good! Good! Good! Now, as your father probably told you, my name is Matt Foley, and I am a Motivational Speaker! Now, let's get started by me giving you a little bit of a scenario of what my life is all about! First off, I am 35 years old.. I am divorced.. and I live in a van down by the river! Now, you kids are probably saying to yourself, "Now, I'm gonna go out, and I'm gonna get the world by the tail, and wrap it around and put it in my pocket!!" Well, I'm here to tell you that you're probably gonna find out, as you go out there, that you're not gonna amount to Jack Squat!!" You're gonna end up eating a steady diet of government cheese, and living in a van down by the river! Now, young man, what do you want to do with your life?
after they meet again tomorrow that we hear a definitive statement from Denard that he's staying. This has to happen.
The last two day meeting on campus didn't end so well for one of the participants.
I hope I am not reading too much into it, but I would have preferred that Hoke refer to Denard as a quarterback and not an athlete. Denard could interpret some of these things negatively, even if it is not the intention.
Even the various all-B1G teams didn't classify Denard as a QB, in spite of naming him as the player of the year. He might have gotten mention as a "back."
All the more reason for his new coach to call him a QB.
Fortunately, the two will meet up tomorrow, so Hoke can clarify anything he said today.
Denard at the game! w000000000000t!
Yes, he was smiling and singing the Victors!
sure looks like he wants to stay! he was up and cheering hail to the victors at the game!!
Gus Johnson is my all time fav announcer and he said he was a big fan of Michigan football. I did not know that. Awesome. Anyways, hopefully Denard, who is climbing up the charts rather quickly as my all time favorite wolverine, stays put. Hoke and company know how big of an asset Denard is and they will utilizie him as necessary, which is at qb. Borges has been around a long time, he will know what to do.
is from Detroit, fyi
I wonder if Tate is at the game?
I'm not sure...but more importantly, there was a Lloyd Brady sighting while the fans were waving goodbye to Sullinger!
Ohio fuckin' State.
That school in Ohio
i think that was in alluding to when tressel was hired saying, "that school up north"
I'd love to hear how he talked about it and what he said at halftime in general. Was he introduced to the crowd? How did that go?
They loved him. Some maize rage guys painted his name on their chests and I heard numerous "brady hoke" chants during the first half.
He will stay.
I think people feeling uncomfortable about Coach Hoke's comments about touching players says more about the people who feel uncomfotable than it does about Coach Hoke.
You read my mind.
Hoke is very charismatic, and seems to genuinely care about his players. This should help him a lot with Denard. After about a year or two of school, players develop fully-functioning BS detectors and know whether the coaches care about them or not. I'm pretty sure Hoke more than passes the BS test. I would imagine that it is now a matter of him convincing Denard that he will get to run an offense that uses his strengths.
Hopefully, this happens tomorrow, and Hoke is true to his word in spring practice.
I agree...as I watched the presser, at first I was questioning Hoke. He seemed somewhat overwhelmed by the situation. But as the presser went on, you could sense the fire and the passion that he brings to Michigan. By the time he was through, it was easy to understand how he might be able to seriously relate to his players. If you had any doubt about the importance of The Rivalry, it wasn't lost on Hoke.
I have to say, I was impressed.
this was mentioned on espn a few times, but the resemblance to Bobby Bacala is uncanny
Tell me about it!
Does anyone have a link to the sdsu offense every snap video of one of their games?
I'm pretty sure I saw a video in one of the diary posts.
He'll stay, because I think the new OC, will adapt to Denard's skills. But that's how I feel about the situation.
or at least why he's apparently already chosen to stay, is because he's the leader of this team. If he left, the team would be screwed, and he wouldn't do that to his teammates.
Denard has every right to leave, and no one would fault him for doing so. It's the logical move to preserve his career. But I think Denard is one of those truly unselfish people who doesn't think about these situations like the rest of us.
