So I'm guessing the coaches really like Bryant.
....or Kalis.
Hopefully both
Or have absolutely no confidence in the Khoury/Miller options at center. I'm assuming if they're moving Barnum away from starting guard that they expect him to start at center.
Most hilarious and rewarding look-up of an online acronym that I've ever come across. Usually I'm annoyed and think "god dammit I need to look up another one, just write it out if it's not something common," but I say bravo, sir. To others: seriously stop saying things like TNENENSITTWT and just write it out. Then get off my 22-year-old lawn because I feel old for complaining about this.

guesss that was a compliment :D
Why was Barnum suspended last year?
OK I'll take a stab at this. I see conflicting reports about his so called suspension. Some reports have him out due to injury last Sept. and other reports have him suspended for a team rules violation.

Q: Why would someone pose a question and later answer it themselves?
A: Because posing a question and answering it yourself is fun!

Or perhaps they have multiple personalities.
It states Schofield to RT, with Bryant and Mealer competing for LG. Also, it says that Jordan Paskorz (who the article lists as a walk on?) and Chris Eddins will be moving to a blocking TE roll. Black is moving to a DT position, and the Roh and Beyer moves were already known. Interesting, but nothing too ground shaking.
One other interesting note is that Hoke said he would discuss attrition at his press conference on Friday. The article only mentions Stonum and Bell.
I would very much enjoy seeing Mealer get some playing time this year. He seems like a great kid.
And he's been through more shit than most of us go through in our entire lives. He is really an inspiration to me.
Out of the 27 signed that class, only 15 are still with the program.
I haven't checked exactly, but I think reading on this blog somewhere, that of the 2009/2010 recruiting classes, we lost somewhere close to 50% of them
Maybe Mealer is there in the spring but come the fall I think it's going to be Chris Bryant at that other guard position. Mealer will probably back up ALL THE POSITIONS like he did last year.
Yeah Mealer may not be a star, but he is a decent backup for all of the offensive line positions, except maybe center. I can't remember seeing him playing center in a game.
Paskorz not only shifted to TE, but is now so far down the chart that sportswriters assume he's a walk on.
Is it just me, or is the bigger news here the fact that they're moving Jibreel Black to DT?
I had heard that they wanted him there last year, but he didn't make the weight or strength gains that they asked of him during the spring/summer before fall camp.
This has been known for several weeks.
Just me then. Thanks.
I didn't know either. But then again I'm not an insider. Won't he need to put on 30-40lbs in the offseason? Wow. I know the average MgoBlogger could probably due that, but that is tough for a 20 year old athlete.
He was above 260 by the end of last season. And since he'll be playing the 3-tech, which is based more on quickness than size, then he should be able to play even if he's only in the 280-285 lb. range, which is easily reachable if he wants to get there.

Are all those first year UFRs when he was unfortunately out there as a freshman and showed good speed but got plowed a lot by big offensive linemen. It's amazing what going from a true freshman to a junior can do....
Wait, Paskorz is a walk-on?
I wondered at that too
He's still on scholarship...

in the article.

Yes. I corrected it. They obliged.
Jibreel Black's listed weight for last year was 260. Looks like he is gonna be on the Taybor Pepper weight gain plan this offseason.
I've heard from numerous people saying his skill set is perfect for the DT spot he's moving to. *immature phrase* "He should be able to provide some big time pentration up the middle."

I see nothing immature about that at all. I really did enjoy when he played SDE and WDE.
He really got some good penetration from either end.

Have some great "that's what she said" potential...
Even after seeing it a million times, calling out someone else's failure to recognize a joke is still funny.
And you sir have a clever handle.
Typically seniors like Mealer go INTO the Spring with the starting nod or working with the first team because they've earned it.
However, I would be somewhat surprised if he held of Bryant. Not because Mealer isn't good, absolutely not. Great player and an even greater person.
I just think Bryant's growth from his freshman to his sophomore year is going to be "tremendous."
I also am not positive Barnum holds off Khoury for the job at center, his snaps were a little shaky, but nothing an entire offseason practicing them can't fix. I'm just saying I don't think it's 100% set in stone he doesn't end back up at LG and Khoury is at C.
If I had to guess...I'd say...
Lewan-Bryant-Barnum-Omameh-Schofield: 40%
Lewan-Barnum-Khoury-Omameh-Schofield: 30%
Lewan-Kalis-Barnum-Khoury-Omameh-Schofield: 20%
Lewan-Mealer-Barnum-Omameh-Schofield: 10%
I checked your math and yes...you are correct sir!
I'm guessing the extra lineman makes them slightly more effective.
...and of course I can't go back and edit it. That one was not supposed to include Khoury.
Apologies.
