Not good when ESPN televising a standard Monday presser. This in my mind is a sinking ship. Such a sad beginning to our season. GOBLUE!!

is a real QB.  DG scares no one .... sad but true.  Count your own personal WTF's vs. OMG's when it comes to Devin.  F'ing great kid - but not anything close to a differnece maker QB.

I think Wojo asked this question, in the context of asking whether Hoke thinks there's a feeling of "crisis" around the program now. Hoke said something about not really thinking about that, and then tossed out, "Did you think we'd be in the Sugar Bowl in year one?" Seemed pretty defiant to me, throwing out that Sugar Bowl reference.

The problem is, Hoke DID establish, on the very day he took the job, where we all should think and expect this program to be in year four (and every other year) -- competing for a Big Ten championship. Is anyone still deluding themselves about the likelihood of that for this year's team, under the current regime?

Maybe someone in charge of ESPN programming is a Michigan fan and is worried that not enough people realize how much of a bumbling idiot Brady Hoke is. Maybe the Michigan fan ESPN programming dude is trying to Push the court of public opinion into such a conviction of Hoke's buffoonery that DB has no choice but to fire Hoke. I still would not be surprised for DB to extend Hoke rather than fire him. I have less faith in Brandon than hoke at this point.

We are less than 24hrs outside a Cowboys win and ESPN breaks into nonstop coverage to show us Brady Hoke?  Someone at ESPN must have suffered a stroke and hit the wrong button, or DB just trolled them.  I can't think of a single time during the darkest hours of RR that ESPN was breaking in on a Monday to give him a national platform.  Whelp, that was 15min I'll never get back.

Isn't that the bottom line? Hoke talks a lot about how this team's primary goal is to win the Big 10. So, OK, Brady...this is your Year 4. Win the damn thing already.

It's depressing when Michigan can't take advantage of an overall miserable conference.

Press conferences are such a waste of time for coaching staff.. without a winning season, they can never look good at a presser, they can only try to avoid looking too bad.  I'd rather give them time to go over film, anything but this.  Let Brandon handle the pressers, he's the PR guy, and let the coaches do what they are paid to do.  As for ESPN, they are sniffing around for some possible drama, it's not like they have insider knowledge of anything.  LIke the story someone posted yesterday, complete speculation (and rehashed speculation at that) - it's not like the reporter had any sources for anything.  You see that a lot these days.

Initially I was very lukewarm at best to the Hoke hiring.  It felt like a truely uninspired selection, that would not make Michigan football exceptional on the field.  After the 11-2 season and some great recruiting classes, I was onboard and got into arguments frequently with friends and family that live in SEC Country.

Alas, my initial impression seems to have been correct.  Hoke is exactly what I thought he would be as the Michigan head coach when he first hired in.  I person of high character that would mend the program, but would get Michigan in the National Championship picture.

He is the classic transition coach, that builds the foundation, but will not be the one to see it through.  Like Scotty Robertson for the Pistons before Chuck Daly.

What Michigan must avoid with the next hire is someone like Cam Cameron.  He is a good coordinator, but has not demonstrated that he is a good head coach.  Go after the coach with the track record!  Someone who has won championships in D1 or been to Super Bowls in the NFL or won multiple championships at a lower level.

Do not assume that because this is Michigan you can plug anyone with Michigan ties into the role and compete at the highest level!

I don't understand why you guys think it would be so bad to fire Hoke mid season. Look at USC and what happened when they did it last year. Complete turnaround and it saved their recruiting. Fire Hoke now, bring in Carr to finish up the season, then hire a permanent replacement at the end of the season.

In order to fire a coach mid season you have to have a plan in place. I don't think Brandon has one. Without a proper plan in place next year could very well be worse than 2008. While I agree with most on the board that hoke may not be the man to lead this program, I think getting rid of him the wrong way could be more detrimental than having him finish the season while the powers that be get their ducks in a row through backdoor channels

I read a few of the comments but not all, so someone may have too chef on it. But I think this may have less to do with anything beyond ESPN protecting their interests. Right now their interests are those sec schools they invested so heavily in. They broadcast this stuff and create uncertainty in the minds of committed recruits, then sec schools amongst others can point to it as "see... Hoke is gone."
And maybe ESPN has nothing better to air.

Serious question:  Since ESPN does not usually air Monday mid-day Michigan press conferences, and it's pretty clear that they aired it just to stir up the pot, why did the AD not say "F you ESPN, we're not letting you in to air the press conference live.  If you really care that much come back after a win."?

Do they have some kind of standing agreement that they have no choice about?
