Hoke, on the development of Shane Morris, "Probably has about 75-80% of a grasp on the offense (now), in September it was probably 45-50%."

Wish someone had asked Hoke: "In the time it has taken your offense to score one regulation touchdown over three games behind the genius of your third highest paid offensive coordinator, Ohio State's offense has scored 26 regulation touchdowns.  How much of a raise will Al Borges be receiving this off season?"

HERE is the "Gold Standard" in questions that need to be asked.  And it could be directed at either Borges or Hoke for that matter.  As presented by Alum96 earlier today in the Coordinator Press Conference Thread (and damn do I miss up-voting.  This one would earn him a TON in my opinion.....)

"Dear Al,

You were relieved of duties (before the bowl game) in year 4 after Auburn's offense sunk dramatically in years 3-4 versus years 1-2, after you inherited some nice talent from the previous administration.  Your excuse last week was this is the first year you are even installing your system and it's year 3 "growing pains".  Yet we saw the same regression at your other stop at a upper end BCS school at the exact same time frame.  A cynic would say the longer you are exposed to kids, the more they regress.

What was the excuse at Auburn for the sharp dip across the board in nearly every offensive statistic as your system was implemented in year 1 there and you'd think year 3 would be the year to shine.... not regress dramatically?

Compare and contrast the 2 situations sir.

Please note if the 2014 UM offense is similar to the 2013 version you will have repeated the exact same feat you accomplished at Auburn.  Ironic sir how history might be rhyming here."

You won't like it, but in 2007, Auburn had an extremely inexperienced OL that was hit by injuries and started something like nine different players...that season somewhat resembles AB's job this year.

In 2007, Auburn averaged just 3.83 YPC on the ground.  The 2013 Wolverines are averaging 3.24.  The difference is in the passing game: the Tigers mustered just 6.51 YPA while U-M is cranking out 8.8 YPA.

Lost it this season's misery is the fact that Devin Gardner is on pace to finish with over 3,100 yards passing--good for #2 on the all-time list at U-M.  And he is throwing the ball about 20% less than Navarre did in his record-setting 2003 campaign.

EDIT: this is NOT an endorsement of Borges; I just think he'd say the young O-Line is a challenge for anyone, and has been tough for him before.

Finishing in the Redzone?  How about:  protecting the QB, run blocking, play calling that doesn't tell the entire world the play that is coming, getting your QB confidence,  teaching your QB to throw the ball away rather then taking a 20 yard sack, throwing the ball to running backs or tight ends, any type of screen pass or looking like an offense that could score touchdowns in regulation.

Tell me this is not an Ulnar Nerve thing.

Considering he finished the game I don't believe it's Ulnar related. Of course I'm not a doctor but Denard was immediately removed and missed several weeks, Devin only needed a TO.

Denard dinged up the elbow several times but was able to come out. Also, he wasn't removed for medical reasons, he was removed because he couldn't grip the ball which meant he couldn't throw. We ended up working him back into the offense as a RB when it became clear it wasn't going to get better enough for him to play QB again that season.

Everyone thinks the Ulnar Nerve thing happened at Nebraska. The first time I saw him grab his elbow last season was on a goaline play vs. Illinois. He played a few more weeks after aggrevating it. The injury got worse and worse until he could no longer grip the football.

Michigan was O - 12 in 3rd down coversions during regulation.  Has Michigan EVER been O-fer on 3rd down coversions during an entire game?  This after back to back negative rushing yards for entire games, yet none of us really believe that Borges is going to lose his job, do we?

Hoke states we have to do better on 3rd down coversions?  But, Borges has so very little to work with ... not little football talent, but the little brain he possesses.

Go Blue!

I just started calling it 3rd and Sack, because that's what it was.  The pass pro was so unbelievably terrible.  There was a 3rd down in the first half where I think AJ Williams on actual rollerskates would have been an improvement over what he did in pass pro.  Hayes decided to try and double the Northwestern dude who caused the rollerskating, who was already past him, while another dude went completely untouched.  Schofield totally airballed a guy for a sack on one of those drives as well.  It's always somebody.

Was Auerbauch the one that kept asking 27 questions about the pink locker room?  How in the world is that person (whoever it was) let speak without a keeper.

Young guys are hungry to play, its abvious on defense and was very abvious on offense this week. So the first step forward is to put behind all those personal feelings that coaches have and start winning some football games. Yes we all feel bad that Fitz has not been the same BUT at the end of the day its up to him and the coaches how hard he progresses.
