Hoke just handles recruiting.

While I realize a majority of you will go "Duh", this is just another example of why this coaching staff is dominating on the recruiting trail.

This is one of our vaunted, committed recruits. I can imagine that the family feel, as well as the full court press an uncommitted guy will get.

Wyatt Shallman‏ @WyattShallman

Just a days worth of letters from the greatest college in the land! #goblue :)

EDIT

On the fifth night—possibly the sixth—a breeze arose.
It was cool and dewy.

The Hoke hire thrilled few, but I think as a whole we all took a deep breath and gave him the benefit. The first rumblings of acceptance were the Mattison hire.. the first true shot across the B10 bow so to speak was ND.. but then we shelled Nebraska. And we finally beat Ohio. And the thunderous roar of acceptance is now so loud you cannot hear yourself think.

BCS championship was the icing on the cake. That team accomplished something that hadn't been done in quite some time!

To be fair, apart from bleeding maize and blue, Hoke didn't have an unassailable resume. A lot of us took a wait and see approach. There's no doubt that his introductory press conference put his charisma on full display, and I personally felt a lot better bout the hire, but a 6-6 season would've changed much.

Glad you were right. Now if you and fans like you would stop being a douche to those that don't agree with your opinion this board will be better off.

Shakey, you know I can't quit you. You were an A2 legend and the fact that you're still around, pluckin' away on your two-string cigar box guitar and, surprisingly, posting on an internet sports blog, is cause for great celebration. You know, given that you're dead and all.

But I think the combination of lighter fluid and moonshine (and death) has addled your brain a little. I think most of the reaction to Hoke's hiring was surprise, fear, and hope, but nothing like the garment rending you describe, at least on average. Of course, there are exceptions to rules (His Dudeness) but not mass hysteria.

The first 2-3 days Hoke was on the job, this place was in a full-scale meltdown.  When Denard announced he was staying, that settled some nerves, and the hiring of Mattison a few days later calmed some more.  But those first 48-72 hours were pretty brutal.

Very insightful - I've never seen this mentioned on MGoBlog before.
