Hoke deserves a graceful exit

Submitted by Rodriguesqe on

Everyone is pissed. Everyone is frustrated.

I am not saying you shouldn't be, or to reconsider.

We all know what almost certainly is coming at the end of the season.

But the next time you want to pesronally insult Hoke, consider that he is a true Michigan Man that bleeds blue. He may have failed at his job, but it wasn't due from lack of effort or desire.

And in Michigan's hour of need, when our top choices used Michigan's offer just to get more money from someone else, it was Hoke who hopped on a bus before even discussing his pay.

He might not be a great coach but he appears to be a good pereson. He is losing his dream job. It sucks. If you need to vent your frustations with him, maybe we can at least not resort to such vitriol or RCMB-esque lowest common denominator personal inults?

Brady Hoke screws up way too many of the small things to deserve another season of the same nonsense.  If it hasn't changed by now, what makes anyone think it will?  This team has so much highly recruited talent that I cant fathom how we can be this bad.  Something has to be going on inside the locker room or program that we don't know about... Also the player development has been virtually non-existent.  Hoke needs to go, good person or not.  If he gets a 5th year it will just be wasted time that we could've spent rectifying the problems.

He's a great guy and a very decent man. But he's not a good football coach nor an elite football mind. This team has allot of talent and he has molded it into exacyly nothing. 4 years in our end product on the football field is terrible. That is unexcusable and for that he should be shown the door. If he really loves the school I'm sure he'll be the first to understand...

Good point OP. I know I am rough on the program. The players deserve better than Hoke and Brandon. I won't beget Brady for lack of desire. He just doesn't have the ability to succeed at one of the top programs. I also feel he was failed by Dave Brandon. No AD should sit in film sessions. Dave's micromanaging makes you wonder who is really the head coach.

We have not been a top program since 97! Time for everyone to lower their noses just a little and give the history thing a break. Clean house and get rid of the "Michigan Man"! Burn it down to the ground

Graceful exit? He should have to pay some of his salary back and DB should be fired for paying him so much. Sorry, this is big boy football and he made millions. I'm not saying punch him in the face, but he deserves criticism. I just can't feel sorry for multi millionaire coaches.

I think Michigan beats Minnesota and Penn State. Takes one last beating in East Lansing and heads to Columbus @ 8-3. The offense is not that far off. The defense is there. Just gotta get the ball rolling down hill. Go Blue!

He talks a lot about being tough. I believe he means it. Life is tough. Failure is tough. Public Failure on a grand scale is very tough.

He is paid $3M a year to do his dream job is surrounded by who should be on paper his dream staff also compensated at a top level.

I'm not worried about Brady Hokes feelings.

UNLESS A GREAT CANDIDATE BECOMES AVAILABLE AND CLEARLY INTERESTED IN COMING HERE... ... I actually am okay with keeping the current staff here one more year. I want to see how they do with their own QB, and NOT DG. Frankly, currently I think Hoke's biggest problem is his loyalty to fifth year senior Gardner at QB. Of course, it is that loyalty to kids who want to audition their skillsets for the NFL that allows Hoke to be a very good recruiter (and he IS a very good recruiter), so that is on him. But DG consistently poor, poor, decision making is the first domino that falls in our weekly football disasters. The defense IS playing great. I would be disappointed if we lost Matteson. The playcalling IS fair (but execution at QB level poor). The talent level is quite good. The new OC inspires confidence and deserves a real chance, which he has not yet had. Hoke's loyalty to DG (and Funk?) is both his strength (in recruiting) and weakness (in inability in knowing when to let go). "Tell me about the rabbits, George."

We've lost 8 out of the last 12. Over Hoke's tenure we've had fantastic recruiting classes. That said he has not been able to recruit a top QB prospect. For all his recruiting success, his inability to attract a top national propsect for what it undoubtedly the most important position on the field -  will ultimately cost Hoke  his job. I don't think we have a QB on the roster to help us right the ship. We need a stud. Sadly, the next great QB at Michigan is probably in 10 years old and living in California. How much more losing do you need to convince yourseld that Brady Hoke has got to go?
