At least Hoke tookthe high road and issued the proper apology, unlike the ass-clown head coach in EL who's response was to whine and try to run up the score.  I mean really, come on.  Regardless of their recent record it just reinforces their longstanding image of a second tier player - it will never change.

Why are we apologizing?  Stupid.  The rivalry deserves a hard fought, tough, but clean game.  If it takes a stake in the ground to make it happen, it is within our right to do that, and MSU should respect that.

We are Wolverines, we bow to no one.

Am I the only one who didn't think this was that big a deal? Okay, if they did it around the national anthem, then yeah that's disrespectful, I won't dispute that one bit. But really? Sparty is going to get all uppity about us driving an f-ing stake in their field?

Not one player on their team could look me in the eye and honestly say they wouldn't have done the exact same thing on our field if given the chance.

While I am good with apologies, I do not see Dantonio apologizing for anything. That way, I am fully stoked with superiority complex. Even when we lose, we want to show you what a classy bunch of people we are. Take that MSU. /s

I wish I could go back 20 years before this 24-hour news cycle so that stupid, irrelevant shit wouldn't be brought up by every butt-hurt coach who can't just win a game of football without bitching about a college player trying to motivate his team during a trying time.

Can we just stop making excuses and apologies for everything. Two years in a row we had an extra week to prepare for Sparty and we got blown out both times.

When does MSU apologize to us for the cheap shots and dirty play they employ against us year after year? That's right ... Never. We just need to shut them up and kick their asses on the field. Enough with this.

Would love to see a gif of the spike being driven into DB or BH with a mortal kombat style kill animation....

This game and act should be the final death blow.

Finish Them!

I don't get this at all. First of all, its embarrassing that we go do this stupid shit when our record is flat out embarrassing. There was no way we were gonna win this game yesterday. So the fans want to cry and whine about Dantonio running up the score on us? Stop watching football. I want a coach that does this to our rivals. If MSU came onto our field and did this, fans would've went ape shit over the staking. Stop fucking whining that our rival ran up the score. How about we get a coach that gives a fuck. First we get embarrassed by Notre Dame and now MSU. We act all tough with tent stake and when we lose we get all soft and sensitive and say we're sorry. What a fucking disgrace.

I'm glad Dantonio acts the way he does.  Wait until Harbaugh shows up with worse bulletin board material and then kicks his cry baby ass year after year.  MSU is on par with Ohio to me now.

You're 3-4, a 17+ point road dog, can't stop gifting turnovers, can't get to the QB, can't pick up a blitz, can't stop dropping passes, and blowing coverages in prolific fashion.

Just stop with the stupid, over-the-top theatrics and play football.  Why is that so fucking hard to understand.

A public apology for this stupid stunt is not necessary, unless he knew about it and encouraged it. But Hoke could have gone into the Spartan's locker room and issued the same apology.

I guess where I'm at with this is call Dantonio to apologize. Handle it privately. If you want to mention you did so in your presser if you're asked about it, go ahead. But why is a press release necessary? Especially when your explanation sounds so completely asinine?

Who does not work understand PR, public messaging, or crisis management and Brandon (along with everybody else who works in the AD are lazy corporate lackeys).

It's the same reason GM knew about their ignition problem for 10 years and did nothing about it. Michigan needs to start over with regards to athletics because sure, they make a new corvette every once in a while, but they are putting out too many cobalts.

I know Harbaugh is not coming here, however, what I would give to see him come in here and clean out the Big 10.  What he would do to MSU would be epic and stroke inducing to many on the MSU staff.

Why is this asshat still the Michigan head coach? Schlissel needs to step in and can both Hoke and Dave Brandon ASAP. Hoke has completely lost control. He looks absolutely clueless on the field. Brandon seems to pre-occupied in saving his own ass to give a crap.

That makes hoke seem like a pussy is really attracting top coaching candidates. They are drooling at the mouth to come to Michigan and have their careers ruined/ set back.

We got dominated out there. Michigan State really didn't play their best game and they still dominated us.

He saw the stake incident and it didn't make sense to him. It's a red letter game since 1969 and nothing more needs to be said for motivation. Players work hard but something is missing, it seems like there is no passion and players are not having fun. This coming from a former player and a father of two current players on the team.

Child rearing/Psych 101: Ignore the bad, reward the good. We should have ignored Dantonio's comments and moved on. This is also PR 101. Instead, we've just fed the beast.

STOP APOLOGIZING!!!! It was stupid, but nothing to apologize over. Spend time trying to develop players so you can win games instead issuing damn apology...(sigh)
