On Hoke

Submitted by bighouseinmate on
I will start off this post by stating that I think Brady Hoke should be let go as UM's head football coach immediately after the OSU game, even if the team wins by some miracle. Having said that, some of the people posting comments and/or topics here need to lay off putting content on here that even approaches criticism of Hoke's character or desire. Criticism of his ability to run a program of the magnitude of UM's, his ability to develop talent, ability to get the best of his players, etc. is one thing. Argument could be made that the job is too big for him, or that he has a blind spot regarding loyalty to coaches. All that is fine. He is, however, a man who bleeds maize and blue, a man who truly would have walked here from SD just to be the coach at Michigan. No one should take that lightly. Was Hoke the right man for Michigan? No, he wasn't, but that isn't any reason to denigrate his character or his desire to succeed.

Hoke is unquestionably a man with great character.  I respect that he loves Michigan.  And by all accounts he is a nice guy and a "players' coach".  But I'd much rather see Hoke roaming Michigan's sidelines as the DL coach and not the head coach.

If a guy has a dream of being a valet driver, and finds a place that will pay him millions of dollars to do it, would you feel bad for him if he kept bumping cars into each other? Because I sure wouldn't. Nothing personal against Hoke, he appears to be a great person and mentor, just not the guy we need leadng our program.

He will be fired on Sunday. I don't think there is a chance in hell it happens on Saturday. The AD will wait for the team and staff to get back to Michigan and settle. Sunday morning, the meeting will happen and announcement will be made late morning or early afternoon.

I may be wrong, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I am. Though I believe I read that the school probably won't fire Brady until after January 1st because he'll get an extra million in his buyout if he's fired before that time.

If that's true, he'll most likely be around for a little while longer than Sunday, no matter what happens Saturday.

I hope you are wrong. Hoke needs canned Nov 30th, regardless if they win or lose. The longer he is around, the worse it will be for recruiting and the program. Look, Hoke is a good guy, but he has failed. We have all failed at one time or another and there is no shame in that as long as you give 100% effort, which I believe Hoke has. It just didnt work out and now it's time for a change. I just hope the change happens sooner rather than later.

I haven't seen many posters denigrating Hoke's character as a person.  Maybe I missed some angry posts after the game that got nuked, but I think the consensus is that Hoke is a really good guy but not up to the task at hand. I don't think OP's post was stating anything other than the obvious - i.e., don't be a jerk.

Well you know what, Blame the Michigan Man for this disaster, Blame Brandon for listening to Lloyd Carr Dumb Ass of hiring one of his former assistant Brady Hoke as HC. Hoke Brought this on his self. Should of kept RR and Fix the Defense, But no we need to have a Michigan Man coaching Michigan. What a bunch of BS.

For the last time Jim is not leaving NFL.
