Hogan, Wichita escape sweep in CHL finals
Bryan Hogan started again tonight for the Wichita Thunder in Fort Wayne. The home team got a penalty shot 19 seconds into the game and lead 1-0, with lots of time to go. As noted in the earlier thread, the Komets bombed him in a 7-3 demolition in game 3, his first start in the finals.
Edit: Hogan and the Thunder escape with the 4-3 win, although the Komets caught post 5 times. The Komets lead the series 3-1.
But it seems like the entire team is just outmatched by Fort Wayne regardless of who the goalie is. They lost game one 5-3, game two 6-3 and last nights game 7-3. I am very interested to see what kind of career Hogan can have if he stays healthy.
my folks said wichita just didn't seem like the team they had been prior to the finals. not sure what's up, though, as it predates the injury to their goalie. i haven't seen a komets game since new year's so i couldn't tell you.
But they sure don't look like the team they were in the regular season. Hogan faced 41 SOG last night and the Komets goalie faced 29. If I had to guess I would say they are being out schemed.
It's 3-3 towards the end of the 2nd. Hogan has stopped 23 of 26 shots.
Thunder take a 4-3 lead with 6:00 left. Hogan is rolling, stopping 33 of 36 so far.
4 - 3 Thunder lead late in the third....go Komets.
