I'm out of state and don't get FSD. any chance of me watching it?
Depending on where you are...check for a stream.
Thanks for the info. One reason I'm looking forward to the new conference is that more games will be on BTN.
I am out of state as well, but I get the game on FCSA which I am guessing is Fox College Sports Atlantic? I pay for the extra sports package from Comcast though, so I'm not sure if that helps you.
BTN is available on almost every cable network in the country. Moving to the conference schedule will be huge for BTN.
I have it in HD on MSGNetork in NYS

I've got it in Texas. Channel 180 on time warner.
Michigan could still lose quite easily; nothing is guaranteed. But to be in this position at all is a total shock. And if they win, they are a red-hot #4 seed nightmare for someone like Minnesota, who is not playing their best hockey right now.
Yes I agree that this is definitely not a foregone conclusion. Part of me thinks that Michigan is so hot right now that no one can stand in their way.
But I've had my heart broken enough times to know better. And of course it is ND, so anything can happen. I'm still stinging from that 2008(?) Frozen Four game.
It would have been easy to talk ourselves up after the win, but Red made sure to point out what we did wrong tonight and how we need to improve. I think he will have them ready.

It helps, in that sense, that this is not Ohio State but instead a Notre Dame team that has been Michigan's daddy this year. Shouldn't be any threat of overlooking them.
I mean, recordwise it's an easy answer. Michigan wouldn't deserve a 3 seed. But I think Minnesota, or any other #1 seed, deserves not to have to face Michigan in the first round. I guess in the hockey tournament, you don't have any bad teams. I've just been thinking over the past couple days how frustrated I'd be if we had to play a North Dakota or BC in the first round if the situation was reversed.
Either way, not our problem this year. Just win today and we'll have fun finding out what happens.

Here's a recap and postgame. Highlights will come soon.
We are kicking ass and I am quite appreciative of it.
If you're not going to be able to watch the game tomorrow, then check in with https://twitter.com/umichhockey , they give quite a few updates during the game.
Michigan broke my heart when I was a student at Michigan many times...the first round NCAA vs. Air Force when their goalie decided he wanted to become Patrick Roy for the night. 2. NCAA game vs. MIAMI when we got a lot of shitty calls and last but not least 3. Minnesota Deluth championship game.
BEAT ND! we will win the national championship if we can win this game...calling it.
first the Palace to see them blast VCU, then the Joe to abuse the Dynasty...
today was a very good day
We're technically the hosts in Grand Rapids, so if we win tomorrow, we're the 4 there no matter what, right?
So we destroy the havoc and the dynasty in the same day. Pretty good.

Yeah, we'd be in Grand Rapids. I didn't realize that there was also a regional in Toledo. That seems like it would be closer to Ann Arbor.

I was hoping they would be in Toledo so i could go down and watch it. The new arena is nice to watch hockey in.
March 23rd, 2013 at 10:34 PM ^
I recall being angry about this when it seemed like it would matter.
March 24th, 2013 at 10:56 AM ^
is in Ohio. Why would someone want to cross that border?
Grand Rapids is in Michigan, and Michigan is a much better place. A little further away from Ann Arbor, but much much closer for me (and yes, I'm being selfish here---I can potentially go to both games at VanAndel Arena in GR, a 70-minute drive. OTOH, especially on a holiday weekend, the 3+ hour drive each way to Toledo would relegate me to watching Michigan on the tube.)
For anyone not familiar with VanAndel Arena, it's a good place to watch a hockey game. Not only that, but conveniently located nearby are some good brewpubs...

We got to beat Rico, now we get a chance to beat the Irish. Get it done, boys! Go blue!
March 23rd, 2013 at 10:36 PM ^
A few things
- Scored one of only two shorthanded goals Miami has allowed all season
- Only team to put up 5+ on Miami
I noticed though that when we got up by 4 we became a lot less crisp, not applying as much pressure, and in the 3rd we put up 3 penalties in a row, including a silly too many men on the ice penalty on a bad switch. I suppose these concerns are mitigated when you're up by 4 goals; that is to say they become issues because you've already played so well you find yourself up pretty far.

I haven't followed the team this year.
If we won't win, would we still get an "at-large" big to the NCAA Tournament?
March 23rd, 2013 at 10:39 PM ^
nope. it is a MUST win...only way to get in the NCAA
March 23rd, 2013 at 10:40 PM ^
No. We have to win to get in. Especially with the teams that won this week.
March 24th, 2013 at 12:10 AM ^
No especially about it. We've been mathematically out of the tournament for a long time; winning the CCHA is the only way to get in, and even then our Pairwise number wouldn't be close. At least in '10 our wins actually moved us up into the PWR range (a loss would still have eliminated us). This year Michigan is barely even a "Team Under Consideration," and only crossed that barrier last week.
Michigan hockey fans basically haven't even needed to look at the Pairwise numbers in months; since January the situation has basically been that either Michigan will win the CCHA tournament or be eliminated. And the former seemed awfully improbable back when Michigan couldn't even assemble a two-game winning streak.
March 23rd, 2013 at 10:41 PM ^
If we do beat Notre Dame (KNOCK ON WOOD), we wouldn't even be the 16 seed now that Canisius is in the tourney.
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:14 PM ^
Won't really change things. Quinnipiac and UMass-Lowell will be the two #1s in the east, Miami or ND will go to Toledo with the other getting shipped east as a two, and Minnesota will be in GR. Right?
March 24th, 2013 at 12:45 AM ^
if we win tomorrow, I think we'd be a 3 seed. When we pulled it off 3 years ago, we ended up being a 3. Our record would be worse now, but I think we'd still get a low 3
March 24th, 2013 at 12:53 AM ^
We're 26th in the Pairwise.
March 24th, 2013 at 12:58 AM ^
We were a three because, combined with our better record, our win streak that launched us to the CCHA title raised our Pairwise rating into the 3-seed range. If we had lost to Northern we would have dropped out of the tourney. It's all math. This weekend we have zero chance at a three seed, because mathematically we cannot jump over the teams ahead of us.
The selection process uses strictly math for the 16 teams to get into the tourney. After that they can seed, and have seeded teams differently to avoid inter-conference match-ups and to boost attendance in certain regionals, etc. Assuming we win today, depending upon who the #1 seed is our regional I would not be shocked if they made us a #3 not to match us up with a #1 seed. It is going to be a pretty big disadvantage for some #1 seed to have to play UM with a home crowd behind it and being the hottest team in college hockey. They would probably stick one of the other auto qualifiers into our regional that are just as low as us as the #4 seed. Hopefully we can pull off the win today and find out! Go Blue!!!!

March 23rd, 2013 at 10:54 PM ^
Honestly, I would be ecstatic if we just win tomorrow and make the tourney. Any tourney wins after tomorrow would be gravy on a season that was on life support 5 weeks ago.
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:27 PM ^
I want to win for no reason other than seeing the gongshow go down the toilet spectacularly with a irresponsible Michigan win
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:32 PM ^
You should really want to win because the least plausible team usually wins the NCAA tournament in hockey.
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:33 PM ^
I had a great time today at the game. It didn't seem to be anywhere close to sold out. If I show up before the game and go to the box office, there should be tickets available right? Or should I just order some online?
March 23rd, 2013 at 11:43 PM ^
Was there. Great atmosphere. 4 goals right in front of me by Michigan.
1 more win guys.

Does anybody know where I can watch this game in Chicago?
