Hockey likely to lose at least one defenseman.

Thunderclouds for the hockey team. We appear to be almost certain to lose at least one of our star incoming defensemen to the OHL. Yostbuilt's twitter feed is a great read if you want to get really depressed. Trouba is being courted by Kitchener, and Plymouth is ready to pluck Carrick if Trouba doesn't go.

Whoever this anonymous source is, said they were 100% positive he would flip. That same source has changed to 50/50 after the draft. I think they both stay.

nothing would keep him from attending UM in the fall for at least one season... damn free will and the right to change your mind!

Insert sad panda...

It kind of sounds like Trouba, PDG, and Carrick are all being somewhat evasive or wishy-washy because I'm hearing very different things about all three. Specifically both Trouba and PDG have said that they would absolutely be back to Michigan but there's rumblings on both that they're 50/50 to the OHL

So either OHL people are being extremely hopeful or those guys aren't telling everyone the same things

From what I was reading, I think Plymouth only traded like a 6th round pic for Carrick's signing rights, and they become 3rd rounders if he signs, or something along those lines. Hopefully they're just taking a shot in the dark

One thing I learned while writing for Michigan Hockey: never trust an OHL source when it comes to NCAA commits. Slovin is going to learn this too.

That's why I didn't post on here when I saw it. They seem to think they have an inside track on every big prospect, so until I see something more than a statement from an anonymous source, I don't buy it.

If he was going to switch, why keep saying he wanted to come here?

My experience has taught me to be wary of anonymous sources; it has also taught me that Michigan has lost a championship hockey team's worth of talent early. I will be delighted if everyone arrives on campus and skates in the fall; I won't be shocked in the least if one of PDG, Carrick, or Trouba go. Disappointed? Absolutely. Surprised? Not at all.

The one thing we have going for us is that none of them appear to be in academic peril; in my opinion the pressure of school scares some people into what would otherwise be poor decisions.

A lot of buzz around him and it's all good stuff. Would love to see him help lead us to a NCAA title! We are long overdue!
