Hilliard-Davidson RB Rico Butler drowns in quarry
What a tragedy.
Butler was a Michigan recruit and was in Ann Arbor for the first Junior day.
I can't imagine being one of his friends and losing him like that. My thoughts go out to his family and friends. Awful story.
My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and classmates. Man, it seems like more of these recruits have these horrific accidents happen to them every day . I just wonder if it is because these recruits are more in the public eye and more of these stories get seen.
Thank you for posting this thread. I graduated from Darby in 2008 and Davidson is our rival "big brother" high school. My friend's brother Jacob knew him very well and is taking his death very hard. Appearantly according to his brother Anthony who is a close friend of mine there were a group of boys down by the quarry near Upper Arlington who tossed him into the water as a joke and were unaware that he could not swim. They thought he was joking untill he went under and didn't come back up. No foul play is involved nor is alcohol at this point. I will pass your thoughts and prayers to his friends that I know.
In their high schools in the past couple of years, even going back to 2006.
Illy who was in the tuba section in the marching band when I was a sophmore was killed with her whole family in an auto accident in 2006.
Ryan Salmons played on my high school hockey team for three years died of cancer last year. He went to Davidson.
Jen Veviros who graduated from Darby in 2008 (same class as me) was killed in an auto accident.
Arthur Lane was killed after being hit by a train this year. He was a sophmore at Davidson. Only 16. It almost feels like death is shadowing my town right now.
