Hilliard and Cornell to OSU
Not a huge surprise, but Justin Hilliard and Jashon Cornell have both committed to Ohio State.

That they chose to do this today adds to the mounting evidence that OSU is anti-America. Anyone who suggests that this doesn't make sense is also anti-America.

I agree with.
Recruiting is important as it's the lifeblood of any program, but it's much more important to be able to develop the recruits you get. For this reason I'm not exactly distraught they chose OSU. Sure it would be nice if they went elsewhere, but ohio is going to get talented and high-rated guys so it's no use fretting over a few guys who committ, because who knows, they might never live up to their billing. This is the big knock on Hoke after all (and I admit that I am one of the leaders in beating that drum), but what does it matter?
They're pretty adept at developing talen at OSU, especially along the D-line and LB. I agree totally with what you're implying, it just doesn't make me feel better given what we have seen from our respective schools over the past few years.
It always hurts to miss on recruits of their caliber, but luckily we finally have depth so it doesn't hurt as bad as say losing Dorsey to academics, or Kris Frost to Auburn. Landing Boykin would be awesome, but obviously not expecting it.
Can anyone tell me/ direct me to the numbers on players we have had leave the program since Hoke took over compared to players Urban has had leave the program since he took over?
Jayme Thompson, Mike Mitchell and Se'Von Pittman I believe are the only ones that have left voluntarily. Jamal Marcus was also voluntary but I believe that was more or less mutual. Mitchell was a 5 star recruit and Marcus was going to get a lot of playing time this year. The other two "mysteriously" tranferred because they found themselves behind talented players on the depth chart.

We have enough horses in the stable to beat Ohio now! We also have enough kids on tap that will sign with us to numb the sting. great gets for Ohio not the end all for us.
I'm getting sick of losing to OSU (1-9 in the last 10 seasons) and MSU (1-6 in the last 7 seasons) on a regular bases. It may not happen this season but by 2015 with both at home we better win against these programs. Unless DB doesn't mind us being a middle of the pack B1G team that will win 7 to 8 games per year but may not have a losing season!

Moved way up in the rankings per ESPN. Interesting they call them both 5* recruits when Cornell is not consensus 5*. I guess they can report it how they want - using only ESPN rankings. :)

What sucks is that Michigan is still suffering from imbalances relating to recruiting and retention of players from several years back.
I think the numbers are back to being just about right, but the distribution between classes is way off (i.e. too many young offensive linemen and not enough upperclassmen).
Let's be real here...the 2010 class with one lineman screwed all of this up.
You'll never see that sort of ridiculous imbalance again. Hoke may have his issues but he seems to recognize, more than RichRod that O-Line recruiting is a priority.
I think things will get sorted out now. I wouldn't be surprised to see Michigan take another lineman by National Signing Day, and next year should be a little bigger class (plus Glasgow and Miller will graduate, which opens up at least two spots).
... after the debacle that was last year and the loss of two NFL tackles I assume a mediocre offensive line that leads to greater than 1yd/carry average will make you "Very Happy." If you're expecting more, I'd love to have your optimism in life.
Interior linemen with experience matter. You could have had Jake Long on the left and God on the right side last year and with a true freshman and a sophomore starting at the guard spots with centre rotation you're going to be crap.
Schools that develop their linemen do so by first actually recruiting them and then retaining them over a number of years to develop. Kind of missed that first part in the RichRod era and just getting there in the second part.
Line will be better this year. Raback that.
I'm not known as an optimist, but I do believe Michigan's offensive line will be decent this year. I think "very happy" is probably stretching it, but I've been targeting 2014 for a couple years as The Year When Things Turn Around.
