Highly rated cornerback Olaijah Griffin to visit soon

Submitted by jbibiza on

According to 247, high four star CB (98 composite) has decommitted from UCLA and will visit us in January. He plays at Mission Viejo - same school as Jarrett Patterson who is trending our way... so there's a chance...  Looks like a dynamic athlete with press coverage chops as well.

He visited there right before signing day I and reportedly had a great time and went back and took all of his UCLA mentions down. Word is he was very attached to Demetrius Martin at UCLA and once he was let go it was basically over for the Bruins. Will be a shock if he leaves Southern California so look for him to end up in the ketchup and mustard.

as saying that "Tennessee has a big lead" after his recent visit there. I think they graduate a bunch of guys from their secondary. Could present an opportunity for early playing time.

Crootin.

Ketchup and Mustard. I like it. Always hated teams with red. Like over 75% of college football teams have red as one of their colors. I especially hate theirs. Seeing those two teams the other night matched up against eachother was a treat. I hate to say it but I was actually going for the low lifes(ohio) to win. I hate USC. They get all of that great talent to pick from with like 70 million people out there and they waste it pretty much year in and year out. Half of their bowl games have been played like 15 miles from their own campus. Their record when they haven't played in Pasadena is really terrible. Smoke and mirrors kids. Yet ESPN and many other rank them as a dynasty program. How many of those big games back in the 60s and 70s were in their backyard? All of their fans right there. If someone doesn't think thats a built in advantage then you might as well hit yourself with a brick because your life is going to amount to nothing anyhow . Even in death and perhaps your next lives, you'll still be dumb as shit!

The instate corner that we recently offered just decommitted this weekend. Someone put in a crystal ball for UM yesterday, I think. Personally, I don't understand taking so many defensive backs in a small class when everyone from our secondary returns next year. I mean, we still have JKP, Thomas, and St. Juste (spelling?) all waiting their turn. I get taking elite prospects at that spot, but I don't get taking under the radar guys at a position that is fully stocked with talented guys....

I doubt both of those guys leave; it is a possibility though. Even if that is the case, I still think taking so many DBs in a small class is overkill--especially with how many capable/talented guys we currently have at those spots. Again, if they were elite prospects, it wouldn't bother me so much. But possibly taking a bunch of under the radar guys at a spot that is fully stocked with talented players is odd to me. It could potentially hinder Michigan from landing more talented or more highly-rated corners and safeties in the 2019 class.

Recruiting seems to be having a little surge as of late. It seemed like the coaches slowed down more than usual during the season.
