Will embed in comments if this is a failure. Great to see Allen 'Trey Burke' Iverson playing well!

I feel if you are an NBA starter that avgs  33-34 mins per game you should easily have KCP stats. He has been way below avg (to me) as an NBA player.

11.9  Points per game

1.7 Assist per game

3.3 Rebounds per game

While shooting a putrid 40.8 % from the floor

KCP is a 6'6  SG with the size advantage on most guys hes going against.

KCP is not a draft bust, but hes well below avg  for an NBA SG  ,id rank him in the 30-35 range as far as NBA SG ,even behind a few back up SG in the league.

very happy that Trey has been able to work himself back into form!

its great to see him playing as good as he is... i am hoping that he is able to continue to due all the little things that allowed him to get this second chance.

Good Luck Trey!

We all knew he had it in him. Consensus national POY, clutch player with a winning attitude. Fascinating how his rapid ascent has coincided with the downfall of the team that cheated him out of the national championship.

Two things that stood out with this game:

  1. So many long 2's.  Had Brian watched, he would have been in a coma halfway through the 2nd quarter.
  2. Burke has really improved with his handle and shooting this year.  True Shooting is up at 60%, he's shooting 3's well (41%) but not as often as before, which helps them be higher-quality vs. the one-on-one shots you typically see from shoot-first PGs, and he's getting to the line without turning the ball over much.

Again, these are the Knicks and they're scuttling a bit and needed bodies at PG, but he's still getting solid rotation minutes for a team that is fighting for a spot in the playoffs.  I'll be honest - I thought he was done with the league after Washington, but he legitimately evolved his game and is now a good rotation PG.

While long 2's are inefficient usually, for Trey they are a necessity. He doesn't have the elite athleticism to score easily at the rim, so he charges defenders and when they back up too quickly he pulls up for the long 2.

If you watched him in Utah you know that he was shooting something like 30% around the rim and needed to adapt. This is his adaptation I guess.

He'll never be a high level defender, but he wasn't half bad today. He was only guarding Irving for 8 (debatably 5 on a switch) of his 31 points and drew praise from the announcer for his defense on one of Irving's makes. Being paired with Frank Ntilikina will help hide most of his weaknesses. His effort level is far higher than it was prior to this year.

Trey is certainly showing everyone he belongs in the NBA. Agree he pairs well with Frank who in turn needs the playmaking and spacing help.

Interestingly Trey turned down a roster spot with the Thunder before the season to join the Knicks D League affiliate. I didn't get to see him much in Utah or Washington but that story includes a few quotes that echo your effort level comment.

Trey was phenomenal coming off the bench.  Made a strong case for being a starter last night and I think Coach Hornacek had him on the floor for most of crunch time.  Thanks for posting those highlights.
