Hi. My name is IAWolve and I have been Freep free for 48 days. I used to abuse myself by reading the trash published in their Michigan section since I was always looking for a new Michigan news fix. However, I found that it was simply destructive behavior that affected my mood and sanity when I tried to reconcile the trash it published. Also, giving the Freep my web traffic only enabled their derelict reporting. Once I learned to trust the rest of the internets along with my support group at MGoBlog, I realized that I no longer needed to be a Freep junkie and could get all the Michigan perspective I needed in a more healthy environment. Every day that passes since I removed their link from my favorites makes me realize how much that paper can go f*ck itself. Thanks MGoBlog.

Today, I clicked on a link from redwingscentral before I saw that it was a freep article. I tried to close the tab before the article came up, but I missed it. I feel SO dirty.

Bad coffee is over there. Two more days and you'll get a pin. We're glad you learned that the Free Press is powerless over the truth, and you've accepted the higher power of MGoBlog. Thanks for sharing!

I too have been Freep free for a while now. However, my work will be in the Freep on Sunday as one of the best companies to work for. I am tempted to by a copy just for that article, but I can't support my company without supporting the Freep. Advice?

what would it take for you to go back?
  • Admit they've been less than fair wrt Rodriguez
  • Fire Rosenberg for conduct unbecoming a journalist
  • Fire Drew Sharp for general lack of rationality
  • All three.
For me, it would take the first two. Sharp's a bearable idiot.

fool me a few dozen more times, I am damned fool for buying into that crap. You can do journalism two ways 1) Have exceptional writing or 2) Use sensationalism to generate controversy/views. The new ability to recklessly sling accusations is not limited to the Freep alone, but I have simply given up getting sucked into that game.

Now that we know how they operate, it destroys their credibility on the Kwame story and any future mayoral scandal story. The Fr--p clearly starts with an agenda and reports -- makes up -- only things that further that agenda. Sadly, most of the mainstream/drive-by/state-run media are similar.

My name is Njia. I confess that I, too, used to abuse the Freep. Once a day, at a minimum, I would log on to read. I also subscribed to the Sunday edition to read the comics and work the sudoku. I lost the respect of my friends, my colleagues and my family. Most of all, I lost any sense of respect for myself. It was awful. Then, I discovered MGoBlog, and I get my fix here. I canceled my Freep subscription and picked up the Oakland Press. I have a renewed self-esteem, and (doggone it) my friends like me again.

It really is pathetic that the Freep refuses to comment on any of the major complaints against their hours-violation article and the media in the state looks the other way and doesn't call them out. I use to go to the Freep multiple times a day. I refuse to go there, until they issue a formal apology for Rosenberg's hit job.
