Hey Guys (A Call for Temperance)

Submitted by Waters Demos on

Honorable ladies, noble gentlemen of the UM community,

At the risk of being presumptuous, and being fully advised that I am not the most accepted, credible, or palatable ambassador, but fearful that no one else will do so, I offer the following proposal for today:

Let's have fun today watching the next chapter in this in-state rivalry;

Let's be civil to one another, enjoy each other's company, and embrace the positive aspects of the relationship;

Let's make fun of each other, celebrate the highs at the expense of the other and suffer the lows to the delight of the other - but with temperance and good cheer;

Let's reject the bullshit that all too often consumes the dialogue between our respective institutions/communities;

If verbally or otherwise attacked/abused by a lesser member or group of members from the opposing community, let's consider the source, resist generalizations, and have measure in our reactions accordingly;

At the end of the day/game, let's come together, break bread (drink heavily), and celebrate our adult-like relationships, as well as this mutually engrossing game we can look forward to each fall.

To those who cannot accept this proposal, it is my lamentation that your approach to the rivalry has been warped, whether by some ill-meaning and unrepresentative subsection of the other's community or otherwise;

Go Green, Go Blue, Go Tigers.

Humbly submitted,

WD (MSU, 2002)

This seems a lot like Narduzzi encouraging the refs to "police the action" as he probably fears some repercussions against his cadre of thugs that assaulted (and that is the appropriate word) UM last year in EL.

When Sparty is confident of a win there is no call for "temperance" but when they can feel the winds of change coming suddenly they want to play nice.

Sorry, No sale.

Mmmm Hmmm

I agree, and this is something I try to do when I go to games (especially away games).

However, I reserve the right to talk enough trash to fill a landfill from the privacy of my couch...

Spartans. What high school did they rip that name off of? I like how they think that movie from 2007 is still the coolest fucking thing ever.  You've had the most successful run you've had in 30 years and you still couldn't make the Rose Bowl!  Time to slip back into mediocrity.

My MSU friends are all posting that this game doesn't matter an how nobody cares what happens in this game. Those very same people love to talk about Denard being hurt and how bad of a school Michigan is. I had to delete a friend who said they were glad Bo was still dead etc.

I try to be as respectful as I can but all the people calling for Michigan fans to be civil would never do this if MSU were undefeated right now.

Go away Michigan Agricultural College,,,

This is EXACLTY why we will never see MSU as a rival equal to OHIO.  Can any of you possibly, under any circumstance, see yourself saying the equivalent of "This game doesn't matter" or "nobody cares what happens in this game" about the school down south.  No.  Never.

Until Spartan fans start realizing this, they can't whine when we refuse to grant them the same level of rivalry of the suckeyes.

Now, then...  Back to your end of the pool, Sparty.  Go Blue!

but I ain't taking shit either.

Although I truly enjoy the atmosphere at Michigan Stadium, I feel like people get too much leeway to be dicks.  Not today, brahs.

my thesis: Sparty was all up in everyone's sh*t talking broken limbs while they had a half a team. Now they're feeling just a little nervous about the whole damn deal.

Your chance to play fair done come and gone, Spartoon. Yeah, we'll destroy you in civil, between-the-hashmarks fashion. But destruction it will be. In the words of Darius Morriss: don't bring that trash in our house.

Etcetera.

Fuck off. I hope your trailer is stocked with food and supplies. I have a feeling you and your sparty brethren won't be leaving the mobile home park all weekend.

Doesn't absolve him for this one. It's condescending, and frankly, ridiculous. If he had put up a link to where he posted the exact same thing at the same time on The Only Colors he always touts, or RCMB, where it's really needed, it might have been a good post. He didn't see a need to post in the "Does Denard finish the game?" Thread, so this seems misdirected at best; CYA at worst.

That's why I said if you "had provided a link." Quick search shows that you did. And good for you. Doesn't look like anyone actually posts there from the post count, so I don't know who you're reaching (the post before that was 8 days ago). Silence when things are RCMB'd speaks a lot more. Otherwise you're just preaching to the choir. The fact that the place you decry gets all the traffic while the place you say really represents Spartan Nation is a graveyard shows the message is misdirected.

*Not that I think you're trolling here....I'm just not sure what the term would be for someone who feels the needs to regularly be reading opposing fans boards.

I'm just not sure what the term would be for someone who feels the needs to regularly be reading opposing fans boards.

Bored, preoccupied, resentful, trashy, pathetic losers who all too often use big words to disguise the fact that they never know what they're talking about, and thus feel the need to compensate.  I can't stand them either.
