Their #1 RB Marcus Cox will play according to the chart. He had a torn meniscus (right knee) that he was dealing with.
Here's your App St Depth Chart
BUT WHAT ABOUT OUR DEPTH CHART? I need more threads on our OL please.
Haven't we beat that horse to death yet?
The beatings shall continue.
I think I saw one still moving.
McConaughey got snubbed last night at the Emmy's
he didn't. I have man-love for Rust Cohle as much as the next guy but Cranston was spectacular. They both deserved it, but the legend of Walter White will live on for years and BC deserved to bring that one home.
to not be a guarantee.
No need to remind us of this game
That was actually one of the very few encouraging games I can remember from these last couple years.
I wish Jake Ryan would grow his fucking flow back. I swear it had a Sampson effect.
their NT is listed at 330 lbs. Get ready Jack Miller, we need you to win that matchup.
They plan on plugging the middle with that beast!
Were we really expecting to have any success running up the middle against anyone?
Can't wait to hear Carl Grapentine say "Bobo Beathard."
a perverted clown
Bobo Beathard and Simms McElfresh.
Is it "Buh-thard", "Bee-thard", or "beat-hard". Is the H silent?
McElfresh sounds like a hip hop artist.
I think he's Doug E. McElfresh's kid.
Those names seem fake.
Did Brady lose weight or is it the black shirts he's wearing on Inside Michigan Football? He looks better.
He's definitely looking a bit trimmer this year.
Nuss brings in fruit cups regularly as opposed to the six dozen donuts Borges would bring in.
and their right guard is 5-11, 270 lbs? Their center seems small too.
We should be living in their backfield all day.
"Should be"...that is the key, I certainly hope we are.
and run around screamin'!
I looked at App State's roster in 2007 and saw a bunch of 250-lb defensive lineman. I figured we would bowl them over all day.
We lost that game, but not because we didn't run all over them.
yielded a whole six total points.
265 yards @ 6.2 yards a pop doesn't lie.
Carr apparently wanted to FG them to death for whatever terrible reason. Maybe I'm just not remembering the game properly, but it's not like it was 27 for 27.
Henne was the culprit. He was fucking terrible. 19 for 37 for 233 yards. That's 6.3 ypa against a I-AA defense that was legimately I-AA, with Manningham and Arrington, and the Appy State linebackers laser-focused on the run game. Part of the reason why I don't miss him.and his very mediocre career 7.0 ypa.
Right up there with his HS highlights imho. He never got to full speed but kept changing direction and found the endzone after 54 yards. But since the game turned out the way it did, that didn't get any attention.
Fucking terrible. On those drives, we
1. Went from their 34 to their 25 in four plays, threw an interception.
2. From our 24 to their 33, incomplete pass on fourth down.
3. A one-play drive, Hart's rumbing bumbling stumbling 54-yard TD to take a one point lead, Brandon Minor run (!) for 2pt conversion failed.
4. From our 43 to their 26, Gingell's missed FG.
5. From our 34 to their 20, all yards on a single pass to Manningham. We had to try a kick because only 6 seconds left. Blocked.
Our defense was stout on four straight drives, on which ASU netted -11 yards. Then we took the lead. Bork Lazer had one 18-yard rush and four pass completions for 55 yards on that drive. They kicked the game-winner on 1st and goal from the 5 with 0:30 left because they had no timeouts.
Let's hope so! That would mean our Offense will get that much more time to run against live competition.
Looks like they play a 3-4. The two starting outside linebackers listed are 210lbs and 185lbs. Seems like there should be some opportunity for outside runs.
Hit the edge and get into the secondary. DE is huge though!
Yeah, that defense is really small. It's like their base and is a dime. If we can't run on them, we're in trouble.
That said, I bet we run all over them.
They ran it much more like a 4-3 Under. But with that size, well, that's more like a 3-3-5 type personnel. Very small defense. NT is hard to move, not too concerned about the DEs though. Their worst thing appeared to be tackling in space. Lots of arm tackles, lots of bad angles, really soft zones.
As for their OL, lots of slide protections, don't get much if any push up front. Can stay in front of some guys though. QB doesn't have much arm strength, but throws a pretty nice ball with some good touch. Timing was a bit off, but he was a new starter mid-way through last year. Looked a lot better than the guy he took over for.
Overall, they play pretty much the same as they did before, just without the explosive athletes they had. They just look like a step slower version of their same ol' self. QB is more a "keep honest" threat, WRs aren't burners, etc.
Really good punter though. Peppers should get some opportunities come Saturday.
In the experience part of the chart -- by my count, there are 16 guys who have started but have 0 consecutive starts. Either they benched guys left and right last year, they had a ton of injuries, or both.
Is Armanti Edwards at QB? As long as he's not there we should be ok.

Here I was, thinking that probably nobody on the roster could get a Michigan offer, but Tacoi Sumler (committed to Oregon in 2010) somehow ended up there. I remember thinking about all of the potential "Tacoi Pants" jokes that there would be if he ended up here.
This will probably be the only game in Michigan's history where each team has a player with a first name whose first four letters are "Taco"
There might be some Tacobys or Tacoshons out there.
If there was anything other than "Appalachian State" on their jerseys I'd be comfortable in believing this would be a nice warm-up game
However, since their jersey does in fact say "Appalachian State", I will be terrified until game time
I'm terrified until the all zeros. And even after.
Man they have the best WR names I have every heard. I will be so let down if Simms McEflresh does not have at least 7 pieces of extra accessories.
is not going to be happy with this thread and will refuse to read it!!
McElfresh would be my name on a fake Hawaiian drivers license
It will be interesting to see Michigan's new bump-and-run coverage against App. State's passing offense.
The left tackle is a three-year starter, but no one else other than their #2 LG (who is behind a true freshman) has ever started more than one game. Is that actually a line with less experiences than ours? Insane.
Their OL has 133 starts between them.
Appalachian State? Never heard of them. Already looking forward to the Notre Dame game.
Where have I heard that before?
No Armanti Edwards...I am good.
Hot, Hot, Hot
AND seeing a 5-11, 270 pound guard, I'm anticipating a 63-7 blasting of epic proportions.
Hopefully dude gets a workout returning kicks all day. Just don't let him get off. Perhaps limit his touches, esp in the punting game.
If we can't rush for 100+ yds against this D, we are absolutely doomed.
WITH THE RB's!!!!!
I haven't seen this posted anywhere, but we are 34-point favorites for this game. Our offensive line being what it is, I have trouble seeing us cover that. But it makes me feel sorta good that the people who know this stuff and bet on it think that Appy State sucks horribly.
Anyone know what the spread was last time?
I don't think the last game was on the board at all.
There was no spread because it was a I-AA team, but I have heard people say over the years that they would have expected a 24-26 point spread in Vegas if there had been one. Eh. Take it with a grain of salt. It probably would have been pretty large.
I can't believe the score is still 0-0 on this game. We are doomd.
I really don't like hearing the name App. State. I can't stand it anymore, it is sucking my will to live.
Count em as one who is not worried about this game, and I am generally EMO about the OL.* This team is not very good. The 2007 team was good. I could care less what their name is. Miami OH is probably even worse.
*This assumes Devin doesnt throw 3 picks inside our own 40 yard line.
