Here, I'll Give You A Topic...

 

Does anyone think that DB has anyone in the AD office read MGoBlog to get an idea of the pulse of the fan base? 

This fan environment is pretty unique from other schools in terms of the ability for all of us to take to the internets and express our opinion en masse.  He probably doesn't care what we all think, but shouldn't he?  I know we can be pretty irrational with some of our comments, but IMHO he's a business man first and foremost and don't major corporations (like Dominoes) hold demographic testing before rolling out a new product?  I would think the approval of the fan base has to be some type of mitigating factor (probably a small percentage, but still) especially since the last coach's major roadblock was fan approval.

I'm a little faklempt.

I think if DB is listening to any fans, it's the boosters.  People like us will buy tickets no matter who is the coach.

I wouldn't go as far as saying this is the one place he WOULDN'T look, but it's not nearly as important to him as the boosters, and for good reason. I wouldn't be surprised if he looked at blogs once in a while to see what fans are saying, though. Why shouldn't he?

I can only continue to reference the fact that I live in an onion factory.

But we set the tone for the RR debacle by a decent portion of the "bourgeoisie" hating on him from day 1.  There is a non-zero probability that the negativity from the common man had an impact on RR's tenure.

if the rumors are true and his number two guy was/is Brady Hoke, I would say it's entirely possible that he has feelers out here in the blogosphere.  Hoke is not a popular and uniting choice among fans and alumni.  If Hoke is DB's guy, and he doesn't measure approval, then where is he and why wasn't he announced as HC two milliseconds after JH took the SF job?

After all the BS people have assumed DB was doing the last 6-8 weeks has proven to be just that... all we can to is take DB for his word. I don't think he cares about anyone opinion outside of those in coaching/football circles.

As educated as we all think we are, if those in charge acted soley on the voices of the fans, all programs would be in shambles. It is the job of the heads, to step back and observe everything and make the best business decision.

 

...having said that, if DB could hurry up and make a decision that would restore order to my life, no matter who it is.

If so, that would be iffy.  This isn't necessarily a representative sample.  This site was much more pro-RR than the fanbase as a whole, for instance.

I have seen all sorts of beautiful mgobloggers on this site with opinions ranging from one end of the rainbow to the other. We Mgobloggers are a diverse nation of Michigan fans. I think if DB were to read this site it would probably show great vision on his part.

Well, I'm sure someone in his office keeps tabs on all major media, including this board. Goes with the territory. DB, for all his talk about keeping his own counsel, has to know what's out there: boosters, administration, fans, media. So the board probably has at least some impact.

I don't remember exactly how I came about it on the internets... this was like 2+ years ago when I created my account and I was perusing a google search for something UM to put as an avatar and I came across it.  Sorry I don't have more 411 on it, but I think the excitement of the moment I found it erased my memory of how I got there... wait... is this a dream?
