Herbstreit said Michigan will be 10-1 going into The Game

Submitted by South TX MFan on

This may have already been talked about in other threads, but I haven't seen it. I also haven't gone through every post either. Sorry if it's old news.

During the GameDay telecast Herbstreit said he believes Michigan will be 10-1 heading into Columbus, with our only loss coming to MSU. Desmond agreed. Pollack said that might be possible, but it'd be because of our schedule and Notre Dame and Northwestern missing players, and we still wouldn't be what he considers a "great team." Herbstreit countered, saying that Michigan will be a lot better than most people think. This was prior to the Appalachian State game.

I was really surprised to hear this, especially since a vast majority of analysts I've heard talk about Michigan said that we'll be down again. Herbstreit even gave more credit to us than I did, as I guessed we'd be 9-2 at that point.

So far so good! It'll be nice to get some respect again.

However, I believe that as you bypass certain obstacles you build on both your credibility and confidence, and this impacts your team only to the extent that it learns what its capable of as it gets tested through the season in certain series, drives or games. As they built on that they get more confident as a team.

Michigan has a roster good enough to beat anyone and win every week. So, it comes down to how you play and whether you execute, which is the greatest concern in big road games. I think Michigan will be undefeated going into EL, and how it plays there determines the season the rest of the way, recordwise and otherwise.

Michigan is playing the Spartans after a bye, something it gets the benefit of having to go there two years in a row. Don't know whether that is a blessing or not. I think it had a bye last year as well, and it certainly didn't help.

But even if Michigan loses there, as all the pundits predict and many here, then the Wolverines could very well be 10-1 going into Columbus. When people claim you're not as good as your record having not seen you perform yet, or are basing their assessment on what they think you will be and do, and you perform at a level in keeping with your own internal development, it matters not what others say about you.

That is how good teams become great. Michigan has the opportunity to learn that lesson this year with major road tests as the way to measure their achievement and grade it as a team.

is perhaps the WORST announcer/talking head around..He is pro SEC ..If u listen to him every SEC is a potential NC contender and every B10 especially Michigan is horrible...his opinions mean nothing to me..He hates Michigan the Big10 and pretty much anyone other than SEC
