Herbstreit said Michigan will be 10-1 going into The Game
This may have already been talked about in other threads, but I haven't seen it. I also haven't gone through every post either. Sorry if it's old news.
During the GameDay telecast Herbstreit said he believes Michigan will be 10-1 heading into Columbus, with our only loss coming to MSU. Desmond agreed. Pollack said that might be possible, but it'd be because of our schedule and Notre Dame and Northwestern missing players, and we still wouldn't be what he considers a "great team." Herbstreit countered, saying that Michigan will be a lot better than most people think. This was prior to the Appalachian State game.
I was really surprised to hear this, especially since a vast majority of analysts I've heard talk about Michigan said that we'll be down again. Herbstreit even gave more credit to us than I did, as I guessed we'd be 9-2 at that point.
So far so good! It'll be nice to get some respect again.

this would be great

But he's wrong. We will be undefeated. And Ohio will have two losses. They are weak this year and losing Braxton hurts them badly.

Don't be that guy.
August 31st, 2014 at 1:00 AM ^
Don't worry, you already got that locked down...

On the wins, but I will reserve comment about the Braxton situation.

Fuck that, Double-D-Be "that guy." I love the optimism. Pessism from a bunch of fans doesn't win us games. I may sound like a hippy here, but keep that positive energy flowing. We're not RCMB, full of hate and resentment.

I know we don't want to be "That Guy". I am the guy, behind the guy, behind the guy. Michigan is "Money" and I like our chances of really surprising people.

I know a guy that knows "that guy"

being a Buckeye and all. Not a "homer" bone in his body while on the air. I like his easy delivery, too.
There are a couple of other Buckeyes on ESPN that are just not that talented. One was color for our game yesterday ("who wants App State? (crickets) Give the game to these two".
August 30th, 2014 at 11:26 PM ^
A lot of writers are incredibly dumb. Dienhart has us as the 6th best big ten team and one BTN writer picked us to win 34 to 32 over App State.
August 30th, 2014 at 11:37 PM ^
Brian said we'd hit the field goal this time and win 35-34.
August 30th, 2014 at 11:41 PM ^
No logical explanation for that prediction if your job is to follow B1G football
August 30th, 2014 at 11:58 PM ^
And one predicted Cameron Chambers to Michigan...what a dope!
August 31st, 2014 at 8:36 AM ^
Obviously that BTN writer hasn't read a damn thing about Michigan this year. Even if the game was going to be close, the O-line is the obvious question mark. If we had won close, it would have been something like 10-7, not in the damn 30's.

Panned by the front page of this great sight as well. Aside from D. Howard's prognostication last week, and Herbies pronouncement yesterday, Gerry DiNardo did say Michigan was being overlooked. Last night DiNardo amended that to extremely overlooked.
August 31st, 2014 at 10:59 AM ^
And the lack of respect serves a nice motivator. I thought I saw an intensity yesterday that bears this out.

morning on Jamie Morris' new show. The team does seem to have a chip on their collective shoulders. Which is what we need. . .
Especially when national pundits (Matt Millen and Andre Ware) are saying that Michigan State is the better program in the state right now. . .
August 30th, 2014 at 11:27 PM ^
I would never say losing to MSU would be great. If we were 10-1 and lost to someone else, I would say it would be great. If we were 11-0, I would say it would be awesome!

I cannot stand Pollack.....he is espn's ess eee see fanboy/ big10 bashing ring leader.
August 30th, 2014 at 11:40 PM ^
Yea can't stand Pollack.

Every chance he gets. He is jealous of the tradition and has no credibility.
August 31st, 2014 at 12:29 AM ^
Im sorry, but i dont think he is jealous of anything. I mean, he went to Georgia. Was a legend there. I dont think he has a reason to be jealous of michigan

No judgment here. Welcome back into the flock (the college football in general flock, that is).
August 31st, 2014 at 12:50 AM ^
Georgia and USC have great traditions. But for whatever reason they like to talk Michigan down. You cant be credible if you are always 100% negative on a school. Call it what you want. I think they are jealous of the national exposure and tradition Michigan carries and cant see past it to be objective.
August 31st, 2014 at 1:05 AM ^
Not sure what USC had to do with anything. If you were bringing that up because of Mark May, well, he went to Pitt.
August 31st, 2014 at 8:29 AM ^
I went to the game all day and it was awesome! Than I went to a wedding. I'm sober now and I still think Mark May's a jerk even though a forgot where he went school. Wine, Beer and Vodka and Hail to the Victors followed by some exceptional or at least entertaining dance moves. Ha ha ha. I do like our team for a lot of reasons.
August 31st, 2014 at 11:01 AM ^
Seriously, you'd never know he went to Pitt the way he slobbers on the collective USC pud.

Michigan hasn't won the big ten in 9 years. They arnt biased. Chillax
Reminding me of Karsch..
August 31st, 2014 at 1:49 AM ^
I'll guess it was when Hershel Walker played for them, so a little over 30 years.
August 31st, 2014 at 1:55 AM ^
I was trying to be snide because I thought Georgia's was also in 2004. But their championship was a year more recent.
September 2nd, 2014 at 10:32 AM ^
Why does Karsch hate Fithian? What's the bad blood about, an argument, etc?
August 31st, 2014 at 2:15 AM ^
You just described MSU in one inadvertantly accurate last sentence.
August 31st, 2014 at 10:04 AM ^
You WERE credible--that is the definition of credibiity. In case you haven't noticed we have not been good.
August 31st, 2014 at 12:56 AM ^
He's not jealous.

Every time he talks, he has bug eyes.
August 31st, 2014 at 10:20 AM ^
I quit watching pre-game shows years ago. They are a waste of time. By the comments I have read here, it sounds like I made a good decision.
August 30th, 2014 at 11:49 PM ^
The schedule is not loaded with tough teams. Just the tougher teams on the road.
August 31st, 2014 at 12:34 AM ^
You bring up a good point and an area we need to improve on. Our three toughest games are on the road and that is going to be a challenge. Devin is now a 5th year senior and will need to step up and lead us. I think his experience and the mentoring he will get from Nuss will make the differance. Three rivalry games on the road will be tough but they are all winnable.

Also a sexist tool.

I've hated him from the moment I saw him on ESPN. It may be that I just hate all the youngest guys they've added (I really freakin hate the newest guy I noticed that they bring in to talk about the NFL). I'm 22 so it's not like I hate young people, these young guys just seem to be real dopes. Jesse Palmer is the only one I can tolerate for any amount of time. I'm gonna start sidetracking here, but I really felt like puking when I watched the SEC Network before the USC Tex A&M game. They were just trying way too hard to compliment everything about each team, the stadium, everything SEC, etc. I get it because it's the SEC Network, but the Big Ten Network isn't that bad, is it? I really hate Tim Tebow, and I'm not even sure why. He seems like a truly great person, but I think his voice is mostly what annoys me. That bald Paul Finebaum can be somewhat of a dick, too. I probably need to avoid ESPN as much a possible.
August 31st, 2014 at 6:03 AM ^
Palmer is horrible. He never shuts up. Someone told him that he needs to make some 'critical analysis' after every play. He is completely annoying and most of his opinions are irrelevant.
August 30th, 2014 at 11:30 PM ^
I thought that he said Michigan would be 10-1 going into The Game if they beat ND next week. Big difference. I'm still shocked that so many people are writing Michigan off against MSU. Sparty is one season removed from a 7-6 season (and needed to win a crappy bowl game to break .500). Michigan certainly has more talent on the roster than MSU. Now they have some depth and experience too. No reason to concede ANY game at this point.
August 30th, 2014 at 11:51 PM ^
I like you
August 31st, 2014 at 1:09 AM ^
Oh crap, that's your line
August 30th, 2014 at 11:53 PM ^
I am sure state will be a good team, but suddenly people are treating them like they are some unstoppable force. There offense was terrible last year. It got better late in the season, but it was still being helped by a great defense. That D is going to take a step back and the offense is probably coming with it or staying even with any improvements hurt by much worse field position and lack of defensive scoring.
I honestly thing Michigan has an even chance of winning at state, and if it was home I would be picking us.
