It doesn't matter. I don't see RR going anywhere after this season. Yes, the defense is horrible and the worst ever at UM, but we have all talked about this before. Injuries, depth, etc. are at fault. If RR cannot improve the defense by the end of next year (via new DC, new scheme, something), then yes I agree. Let him go and find someone that is more well rounded when it comes to coaching. But until then, people are going to keep saying this shit until DB makes a decision.

I am not a huge Rich Rod supporter but I do believe he is the right coach to turn the program around. I know he was the man to put us in this position but you can see the improvement. This offense is as potent as any in college football. One more year with the starters they have on offense (I believe they only lose Schilling) and I they will be contending for the Big 10. With the defense its whole new bag of issues but I think when they get healthy they should be an ok defense. Not great or even good but average and that's all they'll need to be with an offense scoring close to 40 points a game.

That being said I think Harbaugh would be great for the longevity of the program but for the short term, its on RR. Only AD Brandon knows.

Dave Brandon. I think if he is going to keep RR he needs to let it be known...and soon. We have potential recruits sitting on the fence right now and if they feel RR won't be here next year they'll opt for somewhere else. DB needs to put an end to any speculation about RR being around next year. The guy can coach and he's a pretty damn good recruiter, unlike our last coach who didn't even make a recruiting trip his last few years in office (or so I'm told). Society is so predicated on the 'now'..."We want it now! Goddammit!"...so time is running out for RR, but I hope he's kept around because I see good things happening in AA in the years to come. The 'D' will improve, along with the 'O', and we'll be singin' The Victors after a win over tOSU before we know it. GO BLUE!

The program

I agree a lot of the problem with this program were out of RR control but if you wait until next year you might lose out on a chance to get a really special coach in Harbaugh.  If RR is not fired after the game then they need to come out and let everyone know that he will in fact be the coach next year and not give a BS we will evaluate at the end of the season other wise we will get killed in recruiting.

I would ordinarily agree that RR should have a bit more time to pull things together. But the window may be closing on the opportunity to get Harbaugh. In the words of old Bo: "I want a Michigan man to coach a Michigan team." Harbaugh fills that bill; RR does not.

I honestly believe that another year or RR is simply another year lost. Think about it: SEVEN straight losses to the Buckeyes, FOUR straight to the Spartans. Not fair to the kids. Not fair to the fans.

He's a college football color commentator...what other 'breaking news' on any other subject has he offered?  I think there is some malice here...exposing Miles painted him into a corner, and forced him to make a hasty decision, under media pressure, to stay at LSU..

Now he's mucking up this potential transition whether he knows anything or not...if he's wrong, so what? Not his job to scoop stories anyway, and the damage is done..either with recruiting if RR stays, or screwing up a smoother, behind the scenes transition to the next coach..

I like the part when Keith Jackson says..."and he just deflates him (Kirk Dickheadstreet or Kirk Smokin' Herb walkin' down the street) completely...". You gotta believe that deep-down, the fuckin' guy can't stand the Wolverines. Oh well, fuck that bucknut...his comments don't mean a thing to me.

is just an ass. Imagine if someone in his position, like Desmond Howard, started spewing factless crap about Tressel or his program? Where does some idiot ex fuckeye getting inside info about our situation? What an absolute deuche. I hope he just stops talking(breathing).

Nice 2nd post! Seriously though. People have been calling for RR's head for 3 years now. There's not any more pressure to win now than there has been before. We're going to be 7-5 and probably play a good team like Mizzou in a bowl. So, 7-6? It's not great, but I think Brandon will keep him around for one more year before re-evaluating again.

... will be how well Michigan does in the bowl game. With the 15 practices and all the time to prepare, neutral site, good weather, I am confident we can play with anybody and win. If we are manhandled again, I wouldn't be surprised if RR is let go, although I wouldn't agree with the decision. Let RR have next year and I think he will prove that the slow but steady progress has been worth it.

he's stoking the fires of the rivalry, dividing the Michigan fan partisans a little more, pleasing his OSU adherents, and making good ratings for ESPN.  Recognize it for what it is.

And if Rodriguez is replaced by Harbaugh, I know a lot of 49ers fans who are going to be pissed off.
