Hendersons on Tressel

Submitted by Irish on

NYTimes did a nice write up on Henderson's last few weeks and I didn't see it linked in any other topics. The whole article is a good read but I figured you might find this pretty funny (Sean is Seantrel's father), enjoy:

As the Hendersons started to receive letters of intent Monday, the Ohio State running backs coach Dick Tressel, who is known as Doc, sent an e-mail message to Henderson’s father referring to a performance by the rappers Lil Wayne, Eminem and Drake during Sunday’s Grammy Awards. When Tressel, the older brother of Ohio State Coach Jim Tressel, visited the Hendersons in December, Seantrel made his father freestyle rap for him.

“That was a Grammy performance made me think of u!” Tressel wrote.

Seantrel and his father said they liked the stability of the Ohio State coaching staff but not the university’s large class sizes. During Tressel’s home visit last month, he told Seantrel in great detail what his first year would be like for the Buckeyes.

Henderson’s father described the talk as “pretty long-winded” and “kind of dry.” Afterward, Tressel mentioned to the Hendersons that he was always told he talked a lot.

“He’s so informative and so to the point and so much about business, that it was a little boring,” Sean Henderson said.

and you guys thought I was joking about Henderson's dad wanting to meet Snoop out in LA on Henderson's OV to usc

“He’s so informative and so to the point and so much about business, that it was a little boring,” Sean Henderson said.

As opposed to Kiffin, who not boring because he is a college football gangsta. Seriously, USC is a much better education if the kid is interested in academics. However the coach is a first-class idiot.

In response to that quote, I would recommend OSU hire Lil John for the in-home visits. Hip with the youngsters and his career seems to have dried up lately

Nothing says "stability" like a pimped-out crown and goblet. Obviously, he is the king through divine right! Can't take that away.

Lil John also has demonstrated a profound knowledge of personnel needs on the depth chart:

"WE'RE TWO-DEEP UP IN THIS BITCH! WE'RE TWO-DEEP UP IN THIS BITCH!"

That's referring to getting a second commitment for a given position. Also, when he proclaims:

"IF YOU SCARED TO THROW IT UP, GET THE F*CK OUT THE CLUB!"

He's referring to a young QB's hesitation in the pocket when under pressure. Indeed, throw it up, young lad! Play fast and loose! You are sure to win the hearts of many a prized maiden with such reckless abandon.

Yes, lord knows I wouldn't want a businesslike speech about how the football program will treat my son for the next four years. Forget the details kid, you be going to da USC to meet da Snoop-izzle!

I'm on the side of fake "Doc" Tressel, because when someone describes in painful detail about your son's first year in college, you listen and ask questions. That's what a father should be concerned about.

Have fun in LA partying with Kiffin, Seantrel's Dad.

Sounds to me like Sean Henderson enjoyed his recruitment quite a bit.

He better hope his meal ticket qualifies for USC (right now he's sporting a grand 17 on the ACT), or his rap career with Snoop Dogg will go fizzle.

Also, in that article, what gives with Miami picking them up in a limousine? Didn't Lane Kiffin just get dinged for that two weeks ago?

And one more thing - flying to Miami all weekend, at TCF until midnight last Sunday night, in New York yesterday and today. UM, THIS IS THE MIDDLE OF A SCHOOL SEMESTER AND YOUR SON IS NOT QUALIFIED FOR COLLEGE. GET HIS ASS BACK TO SCHOOL.

Honestly, it makes me respect Tressel and his staff a little more. He's simply laying down the facts to recruits as he sees them. He knows what OSU offers, and if a kid if more into sizzle than steak than he probably is better suited to play for a guy like Kiffin. I'm by no means an OSU apologist, but I've continued to respect the dinosaur staff down there which is more than I can say for a lot of schools in this era.

Anyone else feel sad for the Minnesota coaches? They paraded their wives out in front of an immature 17 year old primadonna and his wannabe rapper father. Aaaand here comes the marriage counseling.
