Help us get a new weight room! (Bedford High Kickin Mules)

Submitted by UMxWolverines on

I go to Bedford High School in Temperance, MI. Currently we're trying to build a new weight room and convert the old one into a wrestling room. Currently we don't have a wrestling room, and the wrestlers are forced to practice in a locker room. Plus our district has a multi-millon dollar debt. Just wondering if anyone here would like to vote for our school to get $250,000 from Pepsi. You don't want to? Fine. Just thought I'd ask. But your votes are much appreciated if you do!

edit: Rich Rodriguez commented and voted! (Supposedly, I don't know for sure, but they left a comment saying "Great program!")

As a former Monroe Trojan...I'll think about it.  Where's all the money they used to build that beautiful football stadium out there?  Nah, just kidding, I voted.

Just thinking about combining those two smells is horrific.

Someone give me a "I voted today" sticker so I look patriotic.

Kicking Mules is a damn good mascot.

No wrestling room? How did that happen? Didn't Coach Bankowski come over from the junior high and break some skulls to fix that?

(Also, it is an attrocity that the crapstorm that is Bedford football has a nice stadium but Bedford wrestling, one of the best programs in the area, has nothing.)

(Also Also, is Mrs. Kreft skill kickin it in AP English? If so, say hello from Eric Fischer.)

(Also Also Also: Do you live in Temperance or Lambertville? We might be practically neighbors.)

Awesome.

And I went to school there 98-02. We had one good football year, which resulted in everyone saying, "Oh. Must've been a fluke."

Must be nice to go there when football DOESN'T suck. I'll have to go to a game this fall.

How could you have afforded putting in a weight room big enough to hold 14 practice rings, yet not have a mini-gym or something to practice in? I mean, Bedford is historically THE best program in the state of Michigan, the only one close is New Lothrop. It's not like thats a tiny district either, I mean they are D1. Even at Richmond, not exactly a large community, we practice in the Mini-Gym, we can put up 2 full mats.

The main reason to vote for Bedford though, is that if they return to big time prominence like they once were, we might see a return of the Bedford Girls, and everyone wins when the Bedford Girls are around.

Beats me. But back then there weren't as many kids as there is now. The school is pretty crowded, and they've already had to add on to the school back in 02 I think. They added on to the North wing of the school, plus added a new auxilary gym and weight room #1. Plus in 99-00 thy built a brand new football stadium. The Junior High has a wrestling room, but it was built after the high school by 20 years.

but I still want Bedford to win this one.  Everybody else around here has a weight room; Bedford should have one, too.

It is a little odd they built the new stadium before they thought about building a serviceable weight room.  When I started making the trip to Bedford (when they joined the SEC), they already had the new stadium.  Was the old stadium that bad?

Also, have they built real bathrooms at the stadium yet?  That was the one missing element last time I was there (in 2008 -- Bedford wasn't on Chelsea's football schedule in 09).

Yes, the old stadium was falling apart. It has been fixed now and serves as the soccer stadium. The football stadium is so much better though since it's right on campus. The soccer stadium is a mile away.

They did build a weight room 2 years after the stadium, but it's very small and cramped.

And no, they don't have permanent restrooms yet either. That would be nice.
