Help me choose which game to attend!
So, I have been to a great number of games in the big house, but they have always been "smaller" games. A lot of OOC games against MAC teams, and the Wisky game during DOOM (yes, a fantastic win, but nobody knew that going in. Place was dead.).
I want to attend a big game. One where the place is rocking like the madhouse it was for the last quarter of that Wisky game, except with 110,000 still in the stands. This year, I have two options for that, I think. MSU or HC versus Iowa. I am at a loss as to which one I should try to do. I leave it to you, MGoBoard!

biggest home rivalry game of the year, should be the loudest (excluding another game being epic as all hell)

I would easily choose MSU so that I could see Dantnio's tears of unfathomable sadness firsthand.

HC crowds are generally tamer because of all of the old alums who decide to come back. So IMO it's even tamer than normal.
Of course Iowa is not a bad fallback plan. I think I'm going to try to get tickets to the opener, Iowa and MSU.

MSU or Iowa in that order. In general, the best games I have been to have been Notre Dame games (because we tend to win those).

I remember my first Michigan-Michigan State game. It was 2002 (the year after the clock debacle.) I was new to the Michigan football experience, so it didn't eat at me as much as it did everyone else around me.
Anyway, I arrived to the game slightly late (shame on me!) And we were already down 3-0. As I was walking to the stadium, I got cornered by a couple of MSU fans who screamed in my face "You're already down 3-0!!!! Go back to the Library!!!! WOOOOOO!"
We won that game 49-3.
Needless to say, MSU is a great game to make. Iowa will be a great rematch and probably a good game.

There's no doubt aboot it, that game will be the one to attend. They are so overdue for a beat down and having something similar to 2002 occur would be mgodelicious.

Nice pic. I hope you really are pissing on that logo.
As much as I hate to say it, with UM football being down in the dumps, our must win game has become MSU so I would definitely recommend going to that one.

MSU was my thinking as well, but I wasn't positive, just because I've definitely never done the HC thing.

Homecoming is nice because the opposing team is not allowed to bring their band (to make room for the M alumni band). Then, us people in section 4 can actually hear the MMB, plus we get the alumni band right in front of us for extra "Let's Go Blue!" and "The Victors" action. All I get during the other home games is a constant blast of the opponent's usually-annoying-as-hell band.
However, that being said, I would say go to the MSU game. Because when we beat those sons of bitches you will want to see it in person and be able to tell everyone you were there.

Going to the MSU game this year. I have yet to see a Paul Bunyan batttle in the Big House!

Don't sleep on that UMass showdown : )

Go to the MSU game and score a student section ticket. If you're a non-student it will cost you 25 bucks to get it validated (go to the Michigan Ticket Office in the Union for that). Then go hang out in the student section. If you want real big game atmosphere, hang with the students.

Oh, I know that. I hung onto my toledo student ID, until they started scanning them, just so I could rock out in the end zone.

I am a student. God help me when I have to get yelled at by the silver hairs. My drunken rambling will probably not go over as well outside the student section.

The silver hairs aren't all that bad. I had to sit with them for the tOSU game this year, since I went with the family, and they smuggle in the best booze. I was offered shots of Jack Daniels and some top shelf brandy by people old enough to be my great grand-parents. I should have sat with them during the Horror.
These were complete strangers that were passing out the booze. They'd just hand me the flask and offer me a hit.

But I would try to get to the UConn game. Reasonably priced tickets shouldn't be too hard to come by. Opening game in the completely renovated stadium. Warm weather (or so we can hope). The environment should be pretty electric.

It is really hard to say. I was at the ND game this year(which was awesome and loud). I was at the Wiscy game two years ago (which was amazing). I also attended the OSU game this year which kind of fell flat, IMO. And the PSU game this year the crowd was flat as well. I hope we are better next year obviously, but the best games are the games that will be close. Earlier in the year is better. MSU is your choice here I would imagine.

Living in Dallas its hard for me to get up there to see any games but we got to go to the best game of the year ND. My next choice is the MSU at home game.
January 7th, 2010 at 11:07 AM ^
Would be a good game too.
January 7th, 2010 at 11:41 AM ^
MSU is always a fun game. You might have to wear a hardened plastic shield if you sit near any State fans. They're the only people I've ever seen throw anything harder than a marshmallow at Michigan Stadium.
UConn would also be cool because it will open up the renovated stadium.

Should be a tough test to start the year and it will be a big boost when we stomp them. But MSU or Iowa are both great choices.

I'd attend MSU and wear my:
"East Lansing, A Drinking Town With A Football Problem" T-Shirt.

I was leaning towards the MSU game as well, but since that's in the middle of vacation time, I switched to the Iowa game. By reading the above it should also be a lot easier to get tickets for that game. As an added bonus, the flight to the US should be considerably cheaper.
