Help Big 10 Network Not Playing Michigan Game in Florida

Submitted by Florida Blue on

So I don't know if anyone has already asked about this but I haven't seen anything.  In fact it is tough to find a board entry that isn't about Denard (which I get it).  I was scrolling through to Saturday to make sure that the BTN was going to be playing the Michigan game and I see Ohio State vs Ohio. I assume that is some kind of regional airing and there is no way around it.  Does anyone know differently?  Since I live in Florida I can't stream the game because that is for those outside the US.

Does anyone have any solutions to this or am I generally screwed here?

This is the alumni club finder.  There appears to be 7 clubs in FL, so hopefully one is near you.  I live in San Jose, CA and use the local club here when my TV is not getting the game (which hasn't happened thanks to BTN).

At the very least, throw on some garb and go sing The Victors with other maize and blue faithful when we score.

I'll be in Denver this weekend, and have already scoped out where the bar is.

Which TV service do you have?

Reason I ask is that I have dish network, and the BTN alternate stations are channels 9500, 9501, 9502, 9503, and 9504

Normally, the BTN is channel 439, but on Saturdays I tune in to the 9500 numbers.  You will want to check your line up for the alternate stations.

and when I type in my zip code It only brings back the Ohio State vs Ohio game.  Check for yourself 33579.  I hope you are right I just don't want to be screwed at 12 on Saturday without my Wolverine Fix!

The programming search for my location in Orlando doesn't show any overflow channel for the game. It does show the OHno game. I do not have a channel 1192 listed currently but 1196 is espn saturday only programming so maybe there is a possibility that they add a B10 alternate this week. Last season it did not happen however. Any bar with Direct TV will carry the alternate.

Non HD is channel 820.

Florida Blue - I tried your zip and it does not show the over-flow channels.  Do you know if you have them?  As long as you have them, you will be fine.  If you DONT, call Brighthouse and ask why you dont (my zip is 33609 and I have them).

and they do not have a good answer for me.  They could only say that in the Tampa area they have access to FOUR overflow channels (as I could see on the BTN website), and in Orlando we have NONE.

They did say that come Thursday or Friday there may be more information, so I guess I will have to wait and see....

As mentioned above... San Jose, CA.  Only place I've been since I left Ann Arbor.

I swore off Comcast before the BTN existed.  My issues were more numerous and more related to signal quality/strength and what they called good.  Plus, now that I've switched, the channel lineups make much more sense than they ever did with any cable provider I've seen.

They lump things together that make sense.  All of the ESPNs are together, the network stations get their actual numbers as assigned in the local market (ie WDIV is actually 4 and not some random ~230 number)  All of the news channels (garbage) are together.

Also, they rarely think adjusting the lineup is a good idea.  Most cable stations have had the same numbers since I originally signed up 8 years ago. The same can't be said for ESPN2 on most comcast systems.  Plus, the HD channel is the same number and auto-tunes in to the HD version when available.  None of this ESPN on 13 and ESPNHD on~173 bullshit.

So roughly the similar amount of money spent on internet (I let CC do that) and dish for tv, I'm paying roughly $105/month, the rate hasn't changed very much, I get all of the stations I want, the signal is great, and the channel lineup makes sense.

Also, before you bring up the rain/storm argument, check the almanac.  It barely rains a drop between May and October.  Plus, the rainy season never brings thunderstorms, and even when I had storms in AA, the dish signal rarely went out.  It either had to be covered in snow, or a tornado directly overhead.  Again, it happened, but very very rare.

feel free to admit tl:dr...

I don't think Time Warner has the BTN overflow channels either.  Got fed up and got DirecTV, which not only has the overflow BTN channels, but also has the NFL Sunday package (just in case Saturday wasn't enough).

I've checked that alumni page and there isn't much in Jacksonville where I will be moving this weekend. I am signing up for comcast plus the big ten sports package. Any other Jacksonville residents here? Do they show all of the games down there on some combination of channels?

I live in Alaska and can't get the BTN AT ALL! I've got DISH but can only access Sat 19 because I'm so far north and because of mountains in the way. And, guess what, DISH doesn't carry the BTN on that particular satellite. I've begged them to carry it, but NOOOOO, they would rather add more informercial channels. Also can't get live stream on my computer because of the immensely slow Internet speed up here. Alaska is great for scenery, but sucks for technology. Oh, and I hate DISH.
