I don't mind fucking around with the finish so long as we don't get any goofy logos or anything like that. Also don't mind alternate jerseys for bowl games generally - if there's a proper time to do it, it's that. Just hope it looks good.

LOVE IT!  The chrome really helps the helmets stand out on the field and looks GREAT on tv.  This is good for recruiting and will get the team hype for the bowl game.  Where'd this come from?  Wearing alternate unis as well?

I've seen the phrase used just as the commenter to whom you responded in real life. Not that it's proper English (it's not if we're going Merriam-Webster/College english paper; we are if we're going college creative writing or cultural or anthropological paper, I bet, if used in the context described below), but it's definitely colloquially/dialectically utilized in that manner, precisely, and I've heard it utilized in that manner precisely to describe getting a football team "pumped up" (to use a phrase circa 1995) by the high school football players I tutor currently in Chicago. I.e., "We was/were gettin' hype before we ran out."  They live on the west side, if you're curious.

Every photo on the internet is brand new and should be treated as such

Does this hot dog look familiar? It should. It's the same hot dog, and the same snow storm, and the same ditch.

A photograph of an Oscar Mayer Wienermobile in a ditch popped up Monday and Tuesday — following a brief Wisconsin snowstorm — on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites. It trailed an infinite supply of puns.

The photo, however, is not current.

"The photo that is circulating today is six years old," reports Sydney S. Lindner, associate director of corporate affairs for Kraft Foods.

I'd like to see at least a mock-up with the Maize and Blue inversed, that would be sick and would definitely get some attention.  Hell, I'd buy an ornamental helmet to face the one I already have on my dining table.  But agreed, 100% on the Matte Blue and Chrome Maize.

There is a picture of that.  A famous picture.  Behold.  Perhaps the most infamous photo ever taken, of one of Michigan's "iconic" helmets.

Matte helmets.  Dumbass arena football jerseys.  White shoes.  Every gimmick that Michigan managed to avoid since the dawn of color photography.

I'm so sick of this shit. I'm so sick of debating this shit, too.

Pick two uniforms. Or be explicit and clear about what the team is going to wear and when they're going to wear it if Adidas/Hunter Lochmann decide they want to market some clowniforms for 'crootin sake.

In other words, enough is enough. We don't have to recruit like Oregon because we have more to our program than alternate uniforms and a Nike building. Other teams do just fine without this shit. But we're followers now, not the Leaders and Best. So I guess it's a lost cause.

It's just sad that a bunch of 60 year old, wine and cheese types who sit the entire game and barely make a peep think they should dictate where the program goes and know better than the Athletic Department.  If it was up to them Michigan would still be playing in leather helmets.  I've yet to hear of a recruit or player who didn't love the alternate jerseys and I know most of my friends love the changes as well.  Guess what, times change and sometimes the program has to change as well.

You know that the "Bando" in his name means he was in the band, right? Pretty sure that gives you a lifetime fan card, and I don't know too many former bandies I'd call "quiet wine and cheese types". Vodka smuggled in sousaphones more likely.

In other words, it's on.

that they would just decide whether we are going to be an alternate uniform program or not and then roll with without any reservation.  If we are not going to be, then never, for any reason, deviate from the two traditional uniforms, not for bowl games, not for special games, not for any reason.  If we are going to be, than just do it already and have a whole closet full of options for any game, Illinois, in October, because we feel like breaking out some matte and piping and shit, no other reason needed.  I just wish the debate would end, either do it or don't and then do it or don't.

Obviously I'd prefer we never change it, but I agree with you 100%. And to that I'd add, if you're going to do an alternate, don't half ass it. Not half assed: UTL 1. Half assed: 'Bama, last year's bowl. The sugar bowl ones I thought were just nice aways that we ought to use more often.
