Hello: Zach Hyman

Submitted by lhglrkwg on

Per Yost Built and Bob Miller, Michigan has landed the commitment of Zach Hyman (edit 2: totally didn't see that typo for about 18 hours), the CJHL player of the year. The guy put up a freakin 42-60--102 last season. The guy is mega-legit and could be an immediate solution to our offense problems. This would be like picking up a 5* guy on signing day. As he put it over at Yost Built:

This isn't getting all excited about the prospect of Max Domi. This isn't looking ahead to what could be a ridiculous class in 2013. This isn't Tristin Llewellyn being a top prospect as a 14 year-old. This is a five-star prospect for next season.

edit: my bad, didn't see that the topic lower contained the Zach Hyman news. Either way, I feel it's a strong enough development that it can have it's own topic

Understandable.  Big pick-up for the hockey team, and your post is a lot more clearly titled than the previous, so I will give you my blessing.

You were waiting for that, right?  Yeah, that's what I thought.

I mean the reason that that moniker (dynasty) has become kind of a joke here is because Miami talked the talk before they walked the walk and never ended up walking the walk. I know we've gotten a few CCHA titles on our belt, but I wouldn't call us a dynasty at all. We haven't won the national championship since 1998. I am, however, excited about our future. We have a lot of exciting players coming in, and if we can retain talent (like Merrill), we can get that national championship.

Can you elaborate on why you think we're a dynasty?

that post was mostly just anger directed at miami. BC is probably the closest thing to a dynasty right now but still, we've reached the tourney 21 straight times. that is incredibly difficult in any sport. the next closest team to us is UNH I think with 9 or 10 bids.

I'm not going to call us a dynasty but I die a little inside every time a miami fan says they're right on michigan's heels

But let's not get carried away here. It says on his Florida Panthers bio that he was a 5th round pick in last year's draft. I hope he turns out to be a great player for Michigan, but I don't think I'll be getting my hopes up just yet.

Wow. After a season like last years our Hockey recruiting is just going to go through the roof. I love how chris brown picked us just because of our helmets. We landed an excellent goalie this year and now with this offensive weapon we are going to look even better.

While I still would have preferred to land Lessio, Hyman is a hell of a pick up this late in the process. I guess I should thank my Penn State friends for hiring Gadowsky from Princeton.

seen him play many times. The best thing about his game is his vision. Way ahead of the play and always in the right place at the right time. Should be an instant impact player. The junior team he plays with has another name doing quite well in NCAA, Spencer Abbott from Maine. Abbott is developing into quite the player but IMO, Hyman is better and further along than Abbott.
