Hello: WR Da'Mario Jones
I'm suffering whiplash from not being properly buckled.
Congrats and welcome to the greatest university on earth.
Welcome. Now get ready to earn the #1 jersey, it's waiting for you
In three years, Michigan's offense is going to look a ton like what Penn State's offense looks like this year, but with Shane Morris replacing Matt McGloin. In other words, tons of four yard carries and 7 yard completions to "posession" receivers.
Combine that with an elite defense (likely) and you have Bama/LSU the last five years. Doesn't exactly piss me off.
Can't say it would piss me off either. But dang, we are shaping up to be a seriously boring football team to watch. I'm having visions of 1998, which is when we beat Iowa, NW, and Minny by respective scores of 12-9, 12-6, and 15-10.
First, welcome aboard Da'Mario Jones.
Second, nice to change the narrative a little bit with the decommit/potential for one talk.
Third, awesome name.
Here's hoping for a bright future. This team does try hard and I will continue to support them.
Neg away, but this staff's WR recruiting leaves much to be desired. Based on recruit ratings, Michigan will have an elite OL and QB, pretty decent talent at RB and TE, and MAC-level receivers. Should be some exciting games the next few years if this doesn't change.
Defense for the win!
Point taken. Kinda reminds me of MSU's wide outs the last couple years.
Honestly, I wonder if this has anything to do with the weird tendency for wide receivers to have a diva side to their personalities and a possible lack of mutual interest between more diva-like prospects and Michigan football (where the style of our current coaches and program is more down-to-earth than flashy).
Regardless... welcome, Da'Mario.
Braylon only had 3* level offers. Arrington only had a few BCS level offers. Justin Blackmon was only a 3 star. Stars aren't everything with Receivers
If you're doing nothing, how do you know when you're finished?
Looks like a good jump-ball receiver. Junior Hemmingway wasn't a speedster but he could win any jump-ball catch. I'll take another one of those. Thank you very much.
Go Blue
Fine, I'll call him super Mario
“When your team is winning, be ready to be tough, because winning can make you soft. On the other hand, when your team is losing, stick by them. Keep believing” - Bo Schembechler
There'll only be one "Super Mario" to play for the Wolverines and he wore #86. No offense to Da'Mario but he will need a different nickname. I think he'll understand.
Disgruntled former moderator. I got a lot of problems with you people!
I'm surprised a WR decides to commit after saturdays QB performances. You better be a really good blocker. (Impending Negg)
"This is Michigan for God sakes" -Brady Hoke
because signing day is four months away and anything can happen.
Obviously we are still in it for a few top rated WRs but I really don't think we'll see a committment of several top rated WRs in one class until people see how our quarterbacks develop in the pro-style system and how borges implements it. What will really help the QBs progress is a solid & effective stable of RBs, so let's hope that happens.
Happy to land Da'Mario, but it's nonetheless concerning that at this point in the recruiting process more highly rated talent is going than coming. Then again, Jake Ryan wasn't highly touted and I'd take 11 of him on defense any day. Either way welcome Da'Mario!
Strength equipment is expensive and guarantees you nothing. A strong will is free and can give you everything you want.
Recruiting stars don't mean much these days, given all the studs that come out of nowhere (Jake Ryan). I trust the coaching staff on this kid. They must see something in him that they really like. If they can hit a diamond in the rough like Stribling, I have faith that this kid will be just fine.
It's been a lot. Its been a roller coaster that for some reason seemed like it would never get good. But you know what? We kept fighting. It's like that old saying goes, "Those Who Stay Will Be Champions." -David Molk
Its kind of disheartening to see 75% of the comments in this thread be anything other than "Welcome aboard, Da'Mario!" or the like. C'mon people - lets show this young man the same love we show in all the other "Hello:" posts. I know you all think it, so lets say it in case he's reading this.

Its hard to read a lot of these comments bashing the kid and his talents. Congrats too the kid. I'm sure all u fans that don't want him because he's not a 5* wr, you must not be a 5* fan, we have some of the most whinniest and unappreciative fans. I'm sure every college does. But sheesh. This is Michigan Fergodsake!

Welcome aboard Mr. Jones

99+ responses and not one use of "Wasteland"? Come on...I thought mgoblog was better than that.
Nice to see someone from the tri-cities (Garbage City-Stinkster-Wasteland) making it big.
Only thing that scares me is that Treadwell tweeted "Another....Umm" after he committed hope the nombers dont change Quans mind
What does the kid think, that there would be no competition wherever he goes? Michigan needs tall recievers and they need a backup plan in case Treadwell doesn't come. From what I've seen on Treadwell though, he shouldn't worry about the competition at Michigan...he probably will be the best reciever on the roster if he comes here next year.
Maybe
just maybe
it had nothing to do with Michigan, or even football.
He's look at like 6 different schools, and does things other than "get recruited". Just because that's the extent of your interest in him doesn't mean it's all he tweets about.

Maybe he had another girl ask him to Prom?
If you're doing nothing, how do you know when you're finished?
i wish there was a way to block all content on this site about kids that haven't yet signed an LOI with michigan.
treadwell isn't coming here, just like pharoah and conley aren't coming here. i wasted several hours of my life reading about them and i'd like for that not to happen again.
ugh
Welcome aboard Da'Mario. Great to have you as a M Wolverine.
A 3* offered after his Senior year of HS is complete, is probably more likely to workout for the program than a 4 star verbal from the summer before his Senior season. More overall info, less time for recruit to get restless, in all, just more time for staff to do their due diligence.
If you look at Da'Mario compared to Dukes and York, he looks to be faster and more explosive than both those guys, yet they are probably higher rated. Figuring out the difference between a 3* and a 4* can be incomprehensible at times
Wow after reading some of these comments it looks like the honeymoon is over for this coaching staff. Welcome Aboard De'mario look forward to seeing you on the field. What happened to all the trusting the coaching staff comments from when they offered other under the radar prospects
My first thought is why didn't we just wait on Treadwell? It isn't like this kid was going anywhere he woulda commited on signing day. With that being said, looking at how weak we are at that position I highly doubt it affects Treadewells decision because he would be the best wr we have when and if he steps on campus.
GO BLUE!
Are Treadwell and Green as important to Hoke/AL as Pryor was to RichRod. With Pryor RichRod would still be around with a few B1G Championships (and prob a sanction). I think no but with all the Offense bashing lately?
Local good kid picks local good school! Good for you!
Go Blue!
Don’t look back. Something might be gaining on you. -Satchel Paige
Welcome to Michigan, Da'Mario!
Didn't see the YouTube highlights posted, so here they are:
At least from the clips, it looks like he has good hands and is a good route runner, which would be a big plus for the West Coast offense schemes certainly.

Not sure how good the competition he plays against is, but looks like a good athlete that can be a contributer if coached up properly (after saturday....legit concern about the WR coaching, seems like a lot of our wideouts have regressed)
brunettes....all day
Why not take another QB? We lose Denard (and Jack Kennedy??). We pick up Shane and have Bellomy and Gardner. Seems pretty thin.
Let's just cross our fingers. There is conflicting information out there on this kid. Sam Webb has been talking him up for weeks saying he's got good speed. But the evals that have been posted don't indicate that speed is his strong suit. This is a crap shoot. Bottom line is we need to get Treadwell. Our skill position players are questionable to say the least...

Da'Mario is a seriously good athelete. Welcome aboard. We definetly need playmakers.
