Hello: Sierra Lawrence (SB)

Submitted by MGoSoftball on

Please welcome Sierra Lawrence to the Michigan Family.  Sierra hails from Norcoss Georgia, Greater Atlanta Christian High School.  She plays SS for HS and summer ball.  Sierra player for the 2010 East Cobb Bullets 18U Gold National Championship team.

This is an amazing feat for an area not known for Softball.  Cobb County has put together some fairly impressive softball teams in the past but usually stumble in the World Series to the traditional powerhouses.

During the 2011 season, Lawrence hit .568 and set school records in base hits (54), home runs (14), on-base % (.667), stolen bases (49), runs batted in (38), and runs scored (67).  For her efforts during her senior season, Lawrence, a three-time all-county selection, was named the 2011 Gwinnet County Player of the Year.  She helped the East Cobb Bullets to the 2010 ASA 18U Gold National Championship with a perfect 7-0 record.

Her summer ball coach Judy Tenney had this to say about Sierra: Sierra Lawrence does things at shortstop that arent even possible for most people, and she makes them look routine. As a hitter, she has become the ultimate team player. Whatever the situation calls for, becomes her mission. Of late, she has added impressive leadership skills to her abilities. Sierra is truly a gifted athlete and person.”

This is a quiet pick up for Coach Hutch.  Sierra was probably noticed at the World Series as Atlanta is typically not a recruiting stop for most high-profile D1 Teams.  Sierra must have lit the light a few times for the Coaches to pull this one.  Sierra is fast, lightning fast and will certainly add to the top of the line up.

Again, welcome Sierra.  We home your stay in AA is a good one.  I just hope you have snow boots.

great point for THIS YEAR.  I remember the winter of 89 iirc, it was 68 on Christmas day and we got hammered in Jan and Feb.  So Sierra might get lucky but I would recommend that she go to JC Pennys and get some off the clearence rack for next year.

I would offer her a pair but that would be a violation of NCAA rules.

Going for an all Sierra team with Lawrence, Romero, and any other amazing softball prospects named Sierra?

Seriously, my first thought was "didn't this already get posted?" until I read it to see it was a completely different girl.
