YES!!!!

#Michigan commit Erik Swenson told @JoshNewkirk7 Harbaugh will bring Stanford's S&C coach to AA. I've confirmed Shannon Turley is the man.

Here is Turley's Stanford bio.

And for those who don't like the endowed positions (the J. Ira thing), Turley's job title at Stanford was the "Kissick Family Director of Football Sports Performance"

Lest we forget a few years ago someone named their OC position the "Andrew Luck Director of Offense"

Stanford teams seemed prepared to dominate all their opponents. I would love to see that at Michigan again. The decreased injury rate is almost as exciting. Turley seems to be great at what he does.

I sort of figured that we would see a fair number of Stanford / 49ers people start to populate the staff, but then when you look at the bios - especially someone like Turley and his record of reducing injuries - this really does get better and more hopeful with each hire, in my opinion.

The 49ers S&C coach, while successful, seemed to be very traditional in his methods. That would be good enough, but Turley was an innovator at Stanford. I remember reading a few articles about him, and he was much more focused on core strength and flexibility, as well as position-specific workouts. He also was very successful in cutting down on injuries at Stanford, which seems like a product of his methods rather than a fluke. Granted I only know what I've read on each coach, but he seemed like the best option.

I hope he has a plan for reducing and preventing ACL injuries.  Getting these players fueled up for 4 qtr stamina will also be a priority.
