Hello: Nate Schoenle (PWO)
Nate Schoenle, 6-2, 190-lb. wide receiver out of Ann Arbor Gabriel Richard, announced his commitment to Michigan on Twitter. He appears to be preferred walk-on #12, according to the MGoFish list. MLive reported that he had an offer from Dayton and interest from some MAC and Ivy League schools. Hudl page with highlights.

Only the non-preferred walk-ons will be hungry. The preferred walk-ons still get access to the training table.

but the only difference between walkons and PWOs is that the latter are promised a spot on the roster.

I think our walk on class is better than Purdue's recruiting class

this was posted in an earlier thread (before Schoenle's commit):
At this point, #Michigan's 2016 PWO class would be ranked 182nd in the country (just two spots behind Youngstown State's)

if you don't show you can contribute, it's a one year deal. I'm sure he has different priorites from Hoke.

Harbaugh single-handedly rescued them from a camp 10 clicks from the Cambodian border and now they're suiting up for him again. They'd follow Mr Touchdown to hell and back.

The have a limit of 105 players in fall camp. Once classes start, that limit is removed. Our roster is probably closer to 120.

It's also a good way of helping kids get into Michigan. Like the idea a lot.

sounds like he could have gotten in anyway.... still good for him (and uofm). but the same holds true for the other pwo's...

i was just thinking that!!! i dont know how good this kids grades were... but he gets into uofm and stays there, whereas he (or other pwo's) might not have gotten in otherwise. it is real tough to get in-state into uofm. good for him....

I know because I was helped by another UM coach. Would have probably been admitted anyways but was helped by being on a sports team.
