Hello Mgoblog a Few Questions?

Submitted by husker4life on

I'm new to this site and as soon as we joined the Big 10 today I wanted to get Michigan's point of view on it and of course our shared title in 1997 which seems to be a hot topic on here today lol. A  few questions?

1. How do these mgopoints work? I take it the minus means you said something wrong?

2. Am I going to be slammed for the red N on my picture avatar?

3. Are there people to avoid on this site like other users?

4. How many users on here are buckeye fans because I only saw one and he had a few minus points and frankly I'm not suprised lol. Take it theres Michigan State and ND users too?

Thanks to Brian this is one of the best blogs on the internet. And 99 percent of us are big M fans.  I never hang out in any other teams blogs...but if they happen to be as great as this one than may be I would!!!!  Welcome aboard!!!!

All I can say is that a 1997 BCS national championship game between  NU and UM would have been one hell of a game. Though we may have had one of our best defenses in our school history.  I think we had the edge here and I would have predicted a score of UM 22 to NU 13.

Well, I hope you like it here.  The community is a disjointed collection of people that are nerdy, crazy, insightful, thoughtful, outrageous, and above all passionate about Michigan football.  You'll probably notice people that you like and dislike pretty quickly; feel free to vote on their posts and move on.

1. A negative vote means someone didn't like what you said.  Usually you get them for disagreeing with the majority without explaining your logic.  If you do only one out of two, you'll probably be fine.

Talking about the split title could probably cause a lot of trouble, unless you explain yourself well.  It's fine to get scattered neg votes; it's only when people fly off the handle that they lose privlieges...

2. Represent yourself and your team; it's fine.  Just explain yourself well.

3. Doesn't matter; they can't do much to you.

4. There's one somewhat regular poster, and maybe a few others.  As long as they aren't dickish, they're tolerated.

Welcome, and as others have said we do enjoy posts by informative fans of other teams. A good rule of thumb on this board is if you are going to argue a point have some facts to back up your argument. Nothing worse than a poster who wants to throw out statements that have no basis.

I am thrilled with Nebraska joining the BigTen.  Nebraska has great history and tradition.  Let alone a large fan base across the country which will bring in viewers.  As far as 1997 goes, to be honest and fair, both teams deserved a split in an era where the top 2 teams didn't play.  I do like Michigan's chances against Nebraska as UofM did better against common opponents.  Although that obviously doesn't guarantee anything, it would have been a great game.

Welcome to the site. I would have suggested not to give away the fact that you are female so early. As you can see by some of the pictures above, we are a little male-centric here. If you like that sort of thing, hooray (obligatory NTTAWWT reference here).

While we're exchanging pleasantries, a couple of things I really like about Nebraska:

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYyo7dEPvwU (Sorry, the tubes blocked the embed code) The only place you can trade in a shaggin' wagon for a scooter that gets 70 miles to the gallon straight up.
  • Corn: Delicious vegetable.

That is all.

Don't tell someone from Michigan that the best corn comes from Nebraska.

The best sweet corn, anywhere, ever, can be bought from most roadside stands in S.E. Michigan in August.
